26+ (100%) Free Dog Food Samples by Mail

Have a dog?

Like free things?

Great!  Then this is a post designed just for you.

Whether you want your dog to test our various dog food brands to see which one works for you or you’re simply a sucker for free things, I found quite a few companies/websites online that would actually send you free dog food samples with no strings attached.

I also share some tips you may want to test to see if you can get the company to send you some.

Like most freebies, all it will take on your part is a bit of information and your mailing address.

Do note that these free sample offerings can change, but I tried my best to include only the companies that continue to offer samples.  But even if the offer page isn’t offering samples at this time, you may want to bookmark it in the case they do offer free samples in the future.

All of the sample sources I mention are 100% free, meaning not a penny needed on your part, even for shipping!  AND I promise, no surveys required, either!

If it does require a shipping charge, I will be sure to mention it in the title, I promise.

26+ Free Dog Food Samples by Mail

Amazon Sample Box (KIND OF FREE)

This is an option that is kind of free depending on the purchases you make in the future and is via Amazon.com’s sample box program.

Here’s how it works…

You purchase a sample box via Amazon.  In this case, it would be the dog food and treats box.

This is a sample box of dog food and treats, so you will not know what you’re receiving until it lands on your doorstep.

Then, after you purchase the sample box, you can receive a credit for the price you paid for the box only if you purchase an item inside of the box.

If you buy the items inside of the box, then technically your item is free in a way.

This option is available to Prime members only and will contain six or more samples from participating brands.  One box per household.

If interested, it’s a great way to sample new foods and treats you may have never purchased before!

With more than 550+ reviews and a 4.5-star rating, you can sign up here.

BringFido

BringFido isn’t a dog food company per se, but they do say they get free samples on occasion that they want to pass onto you.

If you’re interested in potentially receiving a sample, you can sign up via this form.  There’s no guarantee, but it doesn’t hurt to at least add your name.

BringFido is a search engine of sorts that shows you the many places you can bring your dog at any destination.

Canidae

At Canidae, they are said to be “pet people,” using the same ingredients they would want for their own dogs and cats.

Independently owned, the company does offer free samples, however, there may be times when they are restocking the supply and you may have to wait.

In the case there is a wait, the company will often e-mail out a $5 coupon when you sign up for updates, which could be just as beneficial if you planned on purchasing the food anyways.

If interested, you can request a free sample here.

Essence Pet Foods

The Essence Pet Foods company wants you to try out a free sample.

In order to receive it, all you need to do is fill out a short form and choose the recipes that sound of interest to you.

As I write this, the company has six dog food samples to choose from, in which you can choose two for your sample selection.

Hill Science Diet

At the time I was writing this, the popular dog food company, Hill Science Diet, was not offering free samples.

However, it doesn’t mean they won’t offer any in the near future.

From what I did research, it did appear that the company would frequently send members who signed up for a free account with free samples and coupons.

It’s free to join, and who knows?

A free sample opportunity may land in your inbox in the near future.

I Love and You

The I Love and You dog food brand believes that you can “show your pet love them with the most nutritious pet food.”

Rated a perfect five on DogFoodAdvisor.com, the company consistently offers free samples via this form.

However, since these offers are extremely popular, they do run out of samples often!

But in the case they don’t have free dog food samples any at the time of clicking that signup link, they simply ask that you sign up for the company’s free newsletter to stay in the loop for their next sample offer.

NUPRO All Natural Supplements

With 29 years of proven success, NUPRO All Natural Supplements helps strengthen your dog’s natural defenses, and the company wants to send out coupons/samples when readily available.

While this isn’t food per se, but rather, designed to supplement your dog’s normal food, you can request a sample here if interested.

Petco

Petco is known to offer free dog food samples quite often and to keep in the loop, I highly recommend you bookmark this offer page and check it daily.

These offers can range from printing a printable coupon and bringing it to the store to showing up on a certain day for a free dog food giveaway.

In order to receive these samples, however, you will need to be a member of the PALS Rewards Program.

This is free to join and can be done here if you haven’t done so already.

The Pet Pantry (North Carolina Only)

The Pet Pantry is offering a free sample to all North Carolina residents via this request form.

According to the description page, their dog food has no by-products, chemicals, dyes, sugar or fillers, and the company has a recipe to suit every dog’s need.

If it sounds interesting and you live outside of the North Carolina area, you can pay a small $7 fee to have a sample shipped to your doorstep.

And if your dog falls in love, delivery is always free.

PetSmart

PetSmart, a lot like Petco, will offer free samples/coupons via their “Treats” program and from time to time, they often hold in-house sample events.

This press release, for example, stated that the retailer recently expanded their in-store events to include sample Saturdays.

Joining the PetSmart program is free and in doing so, you could receive some great coupons/promotions in the near future directly to your e-mail inbox.

Pet Wants Dayton

Based in Dayton, Ohio, Pet Wants Dayton wants to send you a free sample of their all-natural dog food.

According to the company’s sample request page, the food is slowly cooked in small batches and is an all-natural option packed with nutrition.

If interested in a free sample, just fill out the request form, and if your dog does fall in love, you can come back to the retailer to set up a regular delivery option for their favorite formula.

Rachael Ray™ Nutrish® Pet Food

The Rachael Ray™ pet food brand uses real ingredients, with chicken or beef always listed as the #1 ingredient.

On the official website, you can sign up for a sample via this signup list, but in order to receive it, the company asks you to answer 8-10 questions before they do so.  It only takes a few minutes!

Once finished, allow up to eight weeks for the sample to arrive.

Synacore

According to the company, Synacore is a uniquely formulated synbiotic containing probiotics, prebiotics, enzymes and vitamins, all working synergistically to help promote digestive support.

While this isn’t a dog food sample, per se, it’s designed to help promote digestive support and better overall health, keeping your dog healthy.

You can sign up for a free sample here, but do keep in mind that the samples are sent directly to your vet’s office rather than your home address.

Zignature

Zignature believes your dog deserves a diet high in protein diet, the main reason the first ingredient in any of their products will always be meat or fish.

If you want to test out their food, just fill out this form and then choose two recipes that sound good to you.

As I write this, they had more than 10+ options, from turkey to pork and catfish.

Check out Popular Freebie Websites

Sadly, I cannot continue to update this page daily with deals, but thankfully, there are others who will do that for you.

Keep in mind that the offers I included on this page seem to always be active, but that doesn’t mean you cannot find more freebies than the offers listed here.

And while I would list them, they can often expire fast, sometimes in as little as 24 hours once the public finds out and could get annoying as it would lead to an expired link.

With all of that being said, I highly recommend these reputable freebie websites, particularly the pet products categories:

Test Your Luck With These Strategies

Aside from the resources I mentioned above, some of these strategies may work but are not guaranteed:

Join PinchMe

Aside from dog food, PinchMe will send you free samples, including dog food, and all you need to do is provide the company with feedback.

There’s no catch, there’s no credit card required and no scams involved!

To join, you will want to fill out this form and if approved, the company will send out sample requests.

You’re not going to be guaranteed dog food samples right away, but reviewers have claimed they received free dog food samples in the past, including freebies from big-name companies such as Pedigree!

Ask Your Vet

Plan on visiting your vet soon?

If so, ask your vet if any samples are available for you to take home.

Since the major pet food companies will send vet offices samples in the hopes they lure you in, there’s a good chance your vet will have some samples in stock.

Most of the time, however, these will be the prescription-based dog food your vet usually sells inside of their office.

Write to the Manufacturer

I know everyone wants to e-mail nowadays, but most of these bigger companies will just reply to your e-mail with a copy and paste reply and your success rate will be quite slim.

To increase your chances, and yes, you’re risking a stamp, you could write to a company you like and see if they have any samples available.

In doing so, you could find a sample or even a coupon for a free bag inside your mailbox in the near future!

These forum members on DogFoodAdvisor.com, for example, had some luck implementing this strategy.

Again, not guaranteed, but it doesn’t hurt to try.

And while you can try to e-mail, don’t be discouraged if they flat out deny your request or not even respond at all.

Visit the Manufacturer’s Website

If you have a favorite brand, visit their official website and/or search for “[the brand name] + free samples” to see if that yields some results and/or directs you to the right information.

Sometimes a company will offer a sample for a limited time, while others may have a sample available consistently.

For example, the Taste of the Wild brand offers free samples if you call the toll-free number on this FAQ.

Test your luck, and if you succeed, do let me know!  I’d love to hear about it.

Visit Your Pet Store

The next time you stop at your pet store for a shopping spree, ask an employee if they have any dog food samples available.

Depending on the current promotion, you may find they have an assortment you can choose from, while some brands may always have samples in stock.

Some brands may even post on their official website if they offer the free samples at a local retailer.

From what I have read, you will probably have the best luck at an independent pet store rather than the big-name corporate chains.

So the next time you’re shopping, stop by the front desk to see what’s available.

Craigslist or Freecycle

Craigslist or Freecycle can sometimes have free ads for dog food where owners are giving away their stockpile for various reasons.

For instance, some may have purchased a big bag and found out their dog didn’t react well to it, while others may be getting rid of their stock since their pup passed away.

While your results will vary, it doesn’t hurt to check out the freebie section to see if anything pops up.

Like any good freebie, however, be prepared to see the good items go FAST.

Need Financial Help?

If you came to this page looking for free dog food to keep your pooch alive, then you may want to test your luck with a local pet food bank in your area.

To find one, I recommend you check out either PetsoftheHomeless.org or via a simple search on Google/Yelp as every state will have multiple pet food bank agencies.  You could also ask a local shelter to point you in the right direction as well.

If you’re able to find one, some may have you fill out an application to prove your hardship, while others may ask you to come in during operating hours.

Regardless, most pet food banks will have more information on their official website as to how you can qualify.

Final Thoughts

Honestly, your best way to receive free dog food samples is simply by asking the company directly.  A lot of dog owners have had great luck in doing so, especially if the request is genuine.

While the freebie websites do post free dog food offerings from time to time, these deals go FAST.

And even if you’re able to input your information, there’s no guarantee you will even get it.

In the end, ask the company directly, stop by your favorite pet store and ask, and in the case you’re at your vet, ask them if your pup can sample anything.

If you have any strategies you want to share, I’d love to hear about it as well in the comment below!
