How to Get a Free iPhone (And Keep It)

Some of the links may be from a sponsor. Advertising Disclosure

The iPhone, quite possibly the most popular smartphone on the market, is pretty expensive, sometimes retailing for more than $1,000 brand new!  It’s a lot of cash and whether it’s worth it or not is really dependent on the person buying it.

With so many iPhones on the market, your older models can be cheaper, often as little as $150, but to some, that could still be too much, I understand.

So, in today’s post, I wanted to talk about the many legitimate ways you can quite possibly earn a free iPhone with no strings attached.

Some of these tips may be obvious, but some you may have never heard of before, so bear with me as I go through the list.

Regardless, do understand that some of these options may take a pinch of work on your part, but in the end, it could earn you a free iPhone, all without costing you a cent.

If you like the idea of not paying for an iPhone, then let’s dive in and explore the many honest ways you can do so.

How to Get a Free iPhone (5, 6, 7 Plus, X, 11 Pro and more)

Join Swagbucks to Earn Any iPhone

Swagbucks is an awesome way to earn money simply by answering questions for research companies.  Yes, it’s as easy as it sounds.  Plus, if you use this link, you can get $5 just for signing up, making you that much closer to cashing out.

You can earn money in other ways, but surveys are, by far, the best way to earn points, in which you can then cash out for gift cards or simply cash.  It’s up to you, but if you wanted an iPhone, I would personally recommend Best Buy, Amazon or even PayPal to just buy it outright.

I mean, take a look at my dashboard when I’m writing this:

That highlighted survey would earn me $35, for instance.

No, you’re not going to get rich doing it, but I promise you that if you stick to it for about 30 days, there’s no reason you can’t earn $200 (or even more) for the month.

For example, I log in almost daily and can easily earn $5 to $8 a day just for clicking around for a little bit and answering questions.  Your results will vary, though.  You may make much more, who knows?

If you’re looking for one of the older iPhones, such as SE, 6 or 7 plus, for instance, it wouldn’t be that hard at all to earn enough by the end of the month, but if you want to save up a $1,000 in points, it could take quite some time.  Again, it’s highly dependent upon how long you work at it.

Regardless, if you’re patient and don’t mind helping research companies, it’s an amazing way to earn an iPhone, or anything for that matter, for free.

If you like the idea of Swagbucks, there are 80+ more options I recommend that work in the same way.  Be sure to check these out to make even more!

Swagbucks is 100% free and signing up take seconds.  No credit card is ever required to earn cash.

Check out Cellphone Carriers Deals

If you don’t want to complete any offers/surveys like Swagbucks, then your next best bet is to check with the major cellphone carriers, such as AT&T, Verizon, Sprint and T-Mobile.

Almost always, these carriers entice you to sign up by giving you a free cellphone in exchange for using their services, but the kicker here is that you need to either sign up as a new customer or add a new line to your existing plan.

Yes, you will need to pay a monthly bill for the next two years or so, but if you truly want a free phone without much effort, this strategy is tough to beat.  You have to pay a cellphone bill more than likely, so why not get a free iPhone out of the deal?

For instance, as I’m writing this, Verizon was offering $650 toward their “best phones.”   This is enough to almost buy the newer iPhone XR.

AT&T, on the other hand, had something close, but it was a buy one, get one free deal.  Almost as good.

Cellphone companies always offer some sort of free phone offer for first-time and even existing customers, so be sure to at least check out the big four cellphone carriers to see what kind of deal you could take advantage of.   If you don’t mind switching, I would always recommend going this route first 100%.

For reference, I listed a link to the deal pages below to see what the companies are offering as of today:

Be careful with these deals, however, as canceling early can often forfeit the value of the phone, meaning you have to pay them back the number of months you didn’t fulfill your contract obligations.

Again, if you don’t want to do any work, this is the best way to go.

Test Your Luck

As the subheading implies, you could try to win one via a contest, but of course, it’s really luck of the draw.

However, if you don’t try to at least try, you can never win.

To find these contests, I recommend using Google and let me show you how I find these contests.

For starters, type in “free iPhone” or “free iPhone contest” into Google.

Next, you’re going to want to make sure you’re looking at the most recent results to ensure that your results are fresh.  To do this, click on your tools tab, followed by selecting “any time” to “past week.”

Doing this can assure you that you’re looking at the most recent contests.

Aside from this strategy, you can also consider browsing YouTube as many YouTubers often hold giveaways as well.  There are many contest websites that focus on listing contests, too!

Browse through the list, click on any of interest and sign up for any contests that you see fit.  If doing this, I just recommend you create a separate e-mail account because you’re going to get a lot of spam, so just be warned!

And as the last tip, never give out your credit card information as any legitimate contest will never ask you to pay.

Warning:  Free iPhone Scams (there are a ton!)

Online, you’re going to see a lot of those “free iPhone” advertisement scams, most of which tell you to fill out a form and if you’re the 1,000th visitor, you will get your phone.  It’s usually a flashy ad stating that you won a new iPhone!  Sometimes it’s a misleading link that’s encouraging you to just click on it.  These marketers are willing to do anything to make a buck!

While I would love to say these offers could work, they simply don’t as all you’re doing is making the webmaster rich as he or she is getting a kickback every time someone fills out the form.  You waste your time, the webmaster makes a few bucks.  I mean, what’s not to love here?

Almost all free iPhone options you find online will more than likely be a scam, with the exception of legitimate giveaways from reputable people/companies and the cellphone companies I mentioned above.  All other options you might as well skip out on as you’re going to just waste your time.

Not only that, your email inbox and your mailbox at home will then be filled with junk since these companies will sell off your personal information.  It just isn’t worth it.

In conclusion, just make sure you research the company you’re working with.  For example, I reviewed the company, ProductTestingUSA, a company that often gives away free iPhones, in the past. While the company seemed to give away iPhones, I just didn’t feel they were worth the effort.  As long as you search for the website you’re using, you should be able to find something.

Final Thoughts

Finding an iPhone for free is going to be extremely rough.  Getting anything great for free is, let’s face it.

In fact, unless you sign up with a carrier and take advantage of a free phone deal, you’re still going to have to work for it in one way or another.  Granted, you won’t have to spend money to get a free iPhone, at least using Swagbucks, for example, but you will need to exchange your time for one.   That’s almost like spending the cash.

Since the newer phones easily cost $700 or more, no one in their right mind will just give one away for free, just keep that in mind, but as always, I try to think outside of the box to help you with your thoughts.

As always, if you have anything you want to add to the list, I’m all ears!

Have you ever won an iPhone?  Is signing up with a cellphone carrier worth it?
