I have talked about mystery shopping many times before, and in fact, I have mentioned iSecretShop a few times prior. The neat thing about iSecretShop is that it isn’t a mystery shopping company per se; rather, it’s an aggregator of sorts that offers “thousands of companies” in one place.
If you don’t want to log into multiple sites to find the jobs you want, then this job board could be for you.
In this review, I wanted to show you how the website/apps works as well as how you can take advantage of the many mystery shopping jobs in your area. No matter where you live, there’s going to be a mystery shopping job for you to complete.
What is iSecretShop?
As mentioned, iSecretShop is more of a job board rather than a company that directly deals with the company itself. If you have ever used Indeed, for example, it works in the same way, only that it’s mystery shopping jobs. Depending on where you live, you can see 100s of opportunities a day, whereas a small rural town may only have a select few opportunities. Your results will greatly depend on your geographical location.
As I write this review, the company has more than 1,000,000 million users, so there’s no doubt the company is legitimate. The company has been around since 2009 and focuses on providing you with fraud-free shops that pay you well. In the mystery shopping world, there are a lot of scams sadly, but this company does a wonderful job aggregating the best opportunities in your area.
Signing Up for iSecretShop
To sign up for an account, it’s free to do so and you can either download the app (Google or iTunes) or you can register directly on the official website. No matter how you sign up, the registration process will remain the same.
The registration process only takes a few moments and requires you to provide basic information such as your birthday, address, etc. The entire process takes maybe five minutes at most.
At the moment, the company is open worldwide, but almost all of your jobs are based in the United States.
Your Dashboard and Making Money
Immediately after signing up, you can start making money or at least looking for mystery shopping jobs in your area. Keep in mind that 99% of these jobs will require you to visit a physical location, so you won’t be able to make much money from home. If you’re uncomfortable with this, then I would recommend looking into other home money-making opportunities you can complete from home.
For the sake of this review, I’m using the desktop version, but the mobile version is very similar. This is what your dashboard is going to look like:
It may look confusing at first but I can promise you that it’s pretty easy to use. What you’re going to want to focus on are the “Available Shops” and “Web and Phone Shops.” This is where you’re going to find most of your work.
I know I said most jobs are in person, but the company does offer at-home gigs that you can complete at home. These jobs can be found inside the “Web and Phone Shops” tab. Granted, there won’t be as many opportunities but you can find some on occasion. Check it out to see what’s out there.
The Mystery Shopping Jobs
99% of the jobs available will be inside the “Available Shops” tab. If you were to click on it, you will see something like this:
You can filter out the results based on your location or you can browse the list. Either way, you can find a variety of jobs, which will look like this:
So that job, for example, would pay $25 if you were to go tour a fitness facility. The instructions note no purchase requirements and all that’s required of you is to evaluate the customer service while you tour the gym.
The details are broad, but it’s designed to give you an idea of what’s expected during the job. If it’s something of interest, then you would “request the shop” and sign an MSP contract to be accepted. In doing so, the company will then provide you with more details as to what’s expected of you to get paid. These detail sheets will provide much more information for you so that you can complete the job successfully.
After you accept the job and the company providing the listing accepts you, the job will then show up in your “Assigned Shops” tab on your dashboard.
When you do accept the job, just pay close attention to the deadlines as all jobs will have an expiration date. It’s very important that you finish these jobs before the timer expires to ensure you get paid.
Completing the Job
Once you read over the contract and know what’s expected of you, it’s now time to visit that location and complete the job according to the job details. In some cases, you will have to make a purchase, whereas another job may just require you to visit and ask a few questions. It’s important that you remain undercover as a fake customer to not alter the experience. If the company knows that you’re part of a mystery shopping job, they can act much differently than they usually do to achieve a better score.
Most jobs will need to be done within the day usually and you will have to submit your report by the expiration date. Again, this will be noted in the directions. This report will usually have some questions that you will need to answer and then forward to the company. In many cases, you will have to upload pictures, such as your receipts, so it’s important that you know what’s needed of you before you leave a location.
The entire process is very straight forward. As long as you provide evidence that you went to the location and you answer the questions in detail, you will get paid.
How Do You Get Paid?
iSecretShop isn’t the provider, remember that. Instead, you’re going to work with reputable mystery shopping companies who use this platform as a job posting service. Almost all of these companies will use PayPal and you will be asked to provide your verified PayPal address on your dashboard. And, how much you get paid will be noted in the directions as well as on the job snippet like you saw above.
After you complete your job and allow the company to review it, usually which takes up to seven days, you will receive a PayPal payment. The nice thing is that there is no minimum threshold. Rather, you just complete the job and get paid for what’s noted.
How Much Can I Make?
There are a lot of factors that come into the picture here.
One, it will depend on your location since a bigger city, such as New York City or Los Angeles, will have so many more jobs than a rural city in Nebraska.
Second, it will depend on which jobs you select and how often you work.
Jobs pay anywhere from $10 to $50+ in my experience, so if you want to complete two to three a week, that’s a potential $30 to $100~, sometimes more. From my experience, I would say you could make $100 to $250 per month relatively easy. Remember, this won’t factor in the gas to get there.
NOTE: The company does have certification courses you can take to increase your job opportunities. Some of these certifications do cost money, but they can increase your earning potential.
The Pros:
- variety of legitimate jobs paying $10 to $50+
- works with reputable mystery shopping companies
- pays via PayPal
- no minimum payout
- very easy to use
The Cons:
- your geographical location may not offer a ton of jobs
- have to leave the house to earn
- apps have a lower-than-average score
Final Thoughts
8/10If you like the idea of mystery shopping, iSecretShop is one to add to your list. It only takes minutes to set up your account and it’s 100% free. The thing I like about it is that it’s more of an aggregator, so you’re not entirely working with one mystery shopping company. It’s a great way to skim the many jobs available in your area. For now, check out the site and see what kind of jobs are available in your town. If you like any of the gigs posted, sign up for a few and test them out. There are always jobs being posted so it can keep you busy as long as you’re in a busy area. Remember, your geographical area is a huge factor. You can also check out the more than 75+ reputable mystery shopping companies out there if you’re interested in more work.
Mystery shopping is a great way to earn more than $200 to $1,000+ per month, depending on how hard you work. It’s definitely legit.
That’s going to wrap it up.
As always, if you want to add to the post or comment on your experience, you’re more than welcome to do so in the comments below. Thanks for stopping by.
