Ways to Make Money on WhatsApp in 2023

Some of the links may be from a sponsor. Advertising Disclosure

WhatsApp isn’t known as a “money-making” app since it doesn’t support advertising, but seeing it’s one of the most popular apps in the world, there’s money to be made.  Of course, where there’s an audience, there’s money, right?  You just need to know how to do so.

In today’s post, I wanted to talk about the few ways you can legitimately make money on WhatsApp.  It’s going to take some effort, but like most investments, it can pay off with some patience.

As always, 100% legitimate and honest.

Let’s begin!

Ways to Make Money with WhatsApp

Use WhatsApp as a Traffic Source

You can use WhatsApp as a traffic source as long as you’re marketing to the right group of people.  For instance, if you have a website or social media presence based on food, then it would be wise to create a group that revolves around food.  You can also join related groups and naturally promote your work on occasions.  Of course, don’t go overboard, as you may get banned, but naturally, recommend your work whenever the time presents itself.

Whether you have a blog, a YouTube channel or a social media page, there are multiple ways to promote your work.

I would start by inviting people who share a common interest and start a group that starts a good conversation.  Don’t make it too salesy as people won’t be interested.  If you do it right, people will click through to your work to learn more about it.

Consider Affiliate Links

Almost every service/company you can think of online has an affiliate link opportunity, which is a special link tied to your account that gives you a commission every time someone who clicks it takes action.  For example, if someone were to sign up for a survey company I promote, I may get $2 or something.  If someone were to sign up for a credit card, you may get $75.  If you bought a t-shirt, the retailer may give you a 3% commission and so forth.

All you have to do is find these affiliate programs, which you can find here.  You can also research companies to see if they have affiliate programs you can sign up for.

Keep in mind that a lot of these companies have strict guidelines as to who they will accept.  Others may accept anyone.  Just keep this in mind as you may not get accepted for every program you apply to.

In the end, when you find an affiliate program that works, you can naturally send out these links if you feel they mesh with the conversation.  If someone were to take action, then you could make a few dollars on the side.

Get Paid to Post Links

Websites such as Linkvertise and Shrtfly will pay you for every click your link gets, and the great thing about it is that it can be any link.  They just need to click on it.

If you’re interested in something such as this, all you need to do is create an account and then shorten the link you’re looking to promote.  And, again, it can be anything as you will be paid based on the number of clicks you get.  The more clicks you get, the more you can get.

So, if you want to cite a source, you can shorten it.  If you want to cite a newspaper article, you can do so.  The great thing is that it can be anything and you can shorten the link within seconds.

The two I mentioned above are a few of the popular ones but more exist.  Take these links and make it a habit to use these shorteners when talking to others.  In doing so, you can make about $5 to $10~ per 1,000 clicks.  It can add up if your link were to go viral.

Treat it Like Freelancing

If you have a skill of sorts, you could market your skills on WhatsApp, particularly through groups you join as well as reaching out to your contacts.  It’s whichever option you feel is best suited to your interests.

For example, if you’re able to create graphics, and you’re part of a business-like group, they may be interested in your services; however, if you’re in a group that talks about sports, then maybe not so much.

Like any app, group, etc, it’s always wise to market carefully without coming off as being too spammy.

Learn How to Market Businesses

Local businesses are always looking for ways to draw in more business.  While most think about Facebook, TikTok and Instagram, they often overlook the power of WhatsApp.

Like freelancing, if you can learn how to join the right groups and market to the right group of people, this can work wonders for promotion.

Of course, becoming a professional WhatsApp marketer won’t happen overnight; however, if you’re able to learn how to create/join groups that are geared toward a specific genre/audience, anything is possible.

Take it one step further and use your WhatsApp as a marketing point when marketing outside the app such as Facebook, Instagram, etc.

Refer a Friend

This is similar to that of an affiliate program, only that you will refer your friend instead.

Many of the research companies I promote, such as Swagbucks and Superpay.me, for instance, pay you to refer your friends.  And, what’s great about this is that they pay you a percentage of what they earn.  Swagbucks, for instance, will pay you 10% of what your friends earn.  If they were to earn $100 in a month, you would collect $10.  As you can imagine, this can add up.

There are so many referral programs, many of which I cover here, that you can sign up for.  The great thing about it is that you can sign up immediately and start earning.  Just be careful when promoting, though, as many companies have strict spam measures in place.  If they find you spamming your URL, you could find yourself with a suspended account, so make sure you’re ethically promoting your links.

Final Thoughts

If you’re wondering about the ways to make money on WhatsApp, it’s entirely possible, as you can see.  The best plan of action here is to create a group and/or join one and start creating great conversation based on a topic of interest.  As long as you don’t come off too businessy, you will find people will want to chat.  And, if the time comes up where you can fit in one of the ways to make money, as mentioned above, it’s a nice way to make some money on the side.

WhatsApp is definitely one of the harder apps to make money on, but don’t let it deter you as some action can lead to some success.
