If you feel you’re a master at Adobe Photoshop and you’re looking for ways to make money using it, I wanted to cover a few options you may want to consider.
From creating templates to editing photos, there a variety of ways you can make money using Photoshop. You just need to know where to look.
In this guide, I’m going to talk about how you can make money with Photoshop as well as how you can capitalize on your skills to make as much money as you can. As always, everything I promote will be 100% honest and scam-free.
How to Make Money With Photoshop
Create a Tutorial/Course
Take your Photoshop skills and help others learn the talents you already have.
Seeing many want to learn how to master Photoshop, this is where you can come into the picture and help others via an online course/tutorial. Granted, there are hundreds of courses out there, but maybe you will want to carve a niche rather than focus on the entire package. For example, you could focus solely on photography editing. Take a look at the courses that are out there already and see if you can make yours better.
From SkillShare to Udemy, these platforms already have the students; they just need you to provide the course. The great thing is that these instructors can make $200 to more than $3,000+ per month teaching courses online.
If you have a good course and you gather some great reviews, then this is an awesome way to create a passive income once your course is complete.
Sell Stock Images
If you love to take pictures, then you can sell your photos on many platforms I mention here.
Now, the thing is that you will more than likely need your Photoshop skills to touch up the pictures you sell. Put your skills to use and then upload your pictures for a passive income opportunity.
If you were to sell your photos for $0.25 to $10+ per piece, it can start to add up as you gain a reputation for yourself. Don’t expect to get too rich, but it’s possible to make $100 to $300 a month in doing so with the right images.
Create Graphics
Aside from photos, you can also consider creating graphics and then selling them for yet another passive income stream opportunity.
These graphics can range from icons to decorative images or wallpapers. In my research, however, some of the most popular opportunities include textures, shapes and even image masks to help enhance their images.
With this ready-made Photoshop art, you can sell it online to anyone who needs a visual element.
Sell Your Editing Skills
Fiverr, as well as other freelancing platforms, are a wonderful place to sell your Photoshop editing skills. There’s a lot of competition on the platform, but I wouldn’t let that stop you from at least creating a profile and seeing who contacts you.
Create a profile and let the public know what kind of editing skills you have to offer. With the right price and customer service skills, you can build a reputation that keeps people coming back. You may have to focus on keeping a lower price at first, but as you gain this reputation, you will start to thrive, in which you can then increase your prices.
If you do go this route, I recommend you pick out a niche at first. For example, consider focusing on image restoration, for example, or red eye removal. If you’re specific, then you have a better chance at people finding you in the search results.
Create a Video Course
YouTube, as you know, is a massive platform with millions of people watching videos daily. From entertainment to tutorials, this is your time to shine and help the public with your Photoshop knowledge. There’s always room for more video creators.
Like selling your editing skills, I would recommend you consider a specific niche at first so that you’re found in the search results. For example, you could consider showing people how to create fonts or how to create a unique website theme.
As you gain an audience, you can make money via the YouTube ads as well as affiliate marketing links you include in your description. The more eyeballs you draw in, the more money you can make. That can be said about any online opportunity.
Sell Presets
Presets seem to be the craze nowadays and people are willing to pay for them.
Selling your presets to other photographers can help them attain the professional look without the need to invest in editing. And, if you’re wondering what presets are, they are basically a collection of edits that are recorded as a batch and then can be applied to an image with a click of a button. Google the term to see examples online.
Sure, there are a lot of presents available online, both free and paid, but if you create a package that’s much better than the rest, then selling yours is doable. Marketing is key here.
Consider selling your presets on Etsy or your social media channels.
Create Fonts
There’s always room for more fonts in the cyberworld. It’s a topic I have covered in the past, and it’s one that can make you some decent side cash. Out of the many options I mention, this one won’t earn you the most, seeing fonts aren’t that lucrative online, but it could earn you something.
Like creating a course, you can sell your fonts on third-party marketplaces such as Myfonts.com and Creative Market. They have the buyers; they just need the font creators.
Website Themes
No one wants to use the default website themes for their next website. Instead, they want a design that’s unique, the reason many new website owners often turn to themes to pick out one that’s best for them.
Making a website in itself is easier than ever today, however, creating a theme is whole another story if you want something different.
With Photoshop, you can create website themes and then convert it into code so that website owners can use it on their site. You can either sell the rights or unique pieces, depending on your preference.
Look into selling your themes on massive platforms such as Themeforest or Creative Market.
Document Templates
Many times, people look for document templates to spruce something up to make it look more professional. This can be a resume, an eBook cover or even an invitation. Anything really.
Whether you want to create a ready-to-download template for someone to download or you want to create something unique, the demand is there. And, how much you make will greatly depend on how many copies you sell as well as what you’re selling.
On average, templates can sell for about $5 to $15 each, but if you take away commission, you’re making maybe 70% of that. Nonetheless, the right templates can yield you a few hundred dollars a month.
Selling on Etsy seems to be the best option for document templates but Creative Market, as mentioned, can work, too.
Sell Images w/ Print on Demand Services
This one kind of ties into the graphic idea mentioned earlier, with the only difference is that you will use a platform to place these graphics on T-shirts, mugs, etc.
If you like the idea of creating images and then selling your own products, this is an option to consider. You will upload a design, choose the products you want to sell and the visitors will purchase an item that suits their tastes.
The great thing about these “print on demand” sites is that they print the merchandise and ship it out. All they need from you is to upload the graphics, that’s it.
If this is something of interest, I like RedBubble, Zazzle and Printful. These are all platforms with enough traffic that can net you enough sales to make a decent side income.
Printable Planners
Printable planners seem to be the craze on Etsy right now, and you may want to take advantage of this opportunity. It’s a wonderful way to create a passive income opportunity as all you need to do is send the download once a sale completes.
Creating a printable planner or journal in a specific niche can be a gold mine if you create the right product and offer value.
What I recommend is that you check out Etsy and see which planners are selling at the moment. While I’m not saying you should steal the ideas you see, you could use it as inspiration. There’s nothing wrong with taking an idea and making it 10 times better.
Selling printables is something I covered in the past, so you may want to check it out to see how they work in detail.
Logo Design
Logo design is huge online and this is something that you can take advantage of via Fiverr or another freelance marketplace.
As long as you have a knack for graphic design and can listen to what a client wants, then logo design can be a very lucrative part-time business.
This is another one you will have to build a reputation for, but if you can prove yourself with an aggressive price and great customer service, then you shouldn’t have a hard time succeeding.
Final Thoughts
Adobe Photoshop is a great piece of software to master and it can net you some cash in your free time if you use your skills wisely. Even if you haven’t mastered it just yet, there are a ton of tutorials that can help you get there. Like anything, with some practice, you can master it. You just have to ask yourself how bad you want it?
I hope the tips I mentioned above can give you at least a few ideas as to how to use your Photoshop skills and put them to work. If you work hard enough and use the right platforms, then the sky is the limit, that’s for sure. This can be said about anything, really.
That’s going to do it for now.
