20Cogs is a free rewards website that’s open to UK residents only. And, if you don’t reside in the UK, then you won’t qualify for any of the offers, unfortunately. You must be at least 18+ years old to join.
According to the company, COGS stands for Competitions, Offers, Gaming and Surveys.
The company is operated by Submission Technology, which is based in the United Kingdom and was designed to offer you rewards whenever you complete surveys, offers as well as participate in competitions. This company was said to be the founders of the UK’s first cashback website known as Greasy Palm. There’s no question that the company is legit, but the true question is if it’s worth your time.
In today’s review, I wanted to talk about how it works, how much you can make, and as always, if it’s worth your time. As in all of my reviews, I only recommend what I feel is worth your time.
How 20Cogs Works
20Cogs, like the many GPT websites out there, have a variety of ways to earn, mainly four ways, including these popular options:
Completing offers and tasks
This is standard place on most GPT websites, wherein you will be asked to complete an offer, ranging from signing up for a free trial to adding your name to an email list.
For example, you may have to sign up for a streaming service trial at $1, but you will be rewarded $5 in doing so, which means you can make $4. As long as you follow the directions, you will be compensated for what’s noted. This is where you will make 99% of your money if you were to sign up for the website.
Just make sure that if you do these offers you follow the directions and you cancel your trial to ensure you don’t get charged in the future.
Completing surveys
Sign up for third-party survey websites as well as complete surveys to earn the website’s currency, which are known as Cogs. Do keep in mind that most surveys are going to be done with another survey site.
Play games
Playing games generally don’t pay much and this is the case at 20Cogs, unfortunately. For every dollar you deposit, you can earn bonus points on the website. Yes, you will have to gamble some of your money, but of course, it’s optional. Games include casino-like games, such as blackjack, slots, bingo, etc. From what I read, a lot of people actually lose money gambling away their deposits than making it, so you will want to tread lightly with this.
Competitions
These competitions vary, but it’s another way to earn money when competing with other 20Cogs members.
Refer a friend
Lastly, like a lot of GPT websites, 20Cogs will reward you 5% of anything your referrals earn, as well as a bonus if your referrals complete a certain number of tasks.
Rewards
To case out your rewards, it’s much different than the sites I have reviewed. In order to do so, you need to earn “20 Cogs,” hence the name, and how much these 20 Cogs are worth greatly depends on which offers you complete. This means that my 20 Cogs could be much more (or less) than your 20 Cogs.
You will earn a Cog for every offer you complete, but it can take up to 48 hours to credit to your account. Upon completing an offer, you will know how much your Cogs are worth before you even complete the offer.
As you can see in that screenshot above, the green means it has been confirmed, whereas the orange color means it’s pending. Once all 20 are green, you’re good to go.
After your Cogs are confirmed and you earned the 20 needed, you will see a “claim” button appear, in which you can request a payment that’s sent directly to your PayPal account.
All claims are made three times a week via PayPal and how much your Cogs are worth greatly depends on the offers you complete. And, yes, you will get paid if you do reach the minimum threshold.
How Much Can You Earn?
From my experience using the website, it appears you can earn about £100 to £250 when completing all 20 Cogs. I have even read that you can earn more, but again, it will depend on which offers you choose, as some are going to pay much more than others. For example, the gambling offers seemed to pay an average of £25~ or so whereas trials will only pay £5 to £10.
As for how long it will take to earn this much, it can take up to six months, from what I read. This will, again, depend on which offers you choose.
Keep in mind that while this is your earnings, you have to count in your investments. If you paid £10 to earn £20, then you truly earned £10, not £20. So, while you can earn that mentioned prior, you may only net “half” of that.
The Pros:
- great customer service
- free to join
- some rewards can be quite high
The Cons:
- a lot of the offers require you to sign up for free trials and a lot of them are hard to cancel
- the offers seem to be very limited today
- you need to complete 20 offers before you cash out
- many of the higher paying offers revolve around gambling
- some trials don’t credit, which means you will lose money if you had to spend it in the first place
Final Thoughts
4/1020Cogs is nothing special and most of the offers can be found on many competitors. The only thing is that competitors don’t require you that you complete 20 offers before you cash out. Out of all the survey companies I have researched, this is, by far, one of the highest payout thresholds I have seen and it’s one of the reasons I wouldn’t recommend checking it out. You’re much better off going elsewhere, where you can complete an offer and cash out much faster.Plus, seeing they don’t have many free options, you’re going to have to whip out your credit card for many of these offers and even remember to cancel your trial in the future so that you’re not charged. Worst of all, some cancellations require a phone call, which is a huge no-no to me.
If you do sign up, however, you can do okay if you choose the right offers and you remember to cancel your trials. If you do play your cards right, the money can be fine, but I don’t feel it’s worth the time. That’s just me, though.
That’s going to wrap it up for now.
As always, if you want to share your thoughts on your 20Cogs experience or add to what’s written above, you’re more than welcome to do so in the comments below.
