BIGtoken Review: Easy Surveys for Cash?

NOTE:  BIGtoken is no long active.  This post is left up for archive purposes.

BIGtoken is a free app that pays you to share your data and opinions.  As I write this, it has more than 35,000 reviews on the Google Play Store with a decent 4/5 rating and more than one million downloads.  It’s one of the larger survey apps.

To start earning, all you need to do is simply answer survey questions and you will earn “BIGtoken” points in doing so, in which you can redeem for PayPal rewards.  It’s a lot like the many survey apps I have mentioned in the past.  There are also other ways to earn, all of which I will get into later on in this review.

In today’s review, I download the BIGtoken app and check it out.  I will see how much you can make, if it’s worth your time as well as what other people are saying.  As in all of my reviews, I only recommend what I feel is worth your time.  I built this website to inform, not line my pockets.

If you want to make a few dollars on the side, all while using your phone, let’s see if the app is worth your time.

What is BIGtoken Exactly?

According to the company’s official website, they “believe it’s time to break down the barriers dividing you from the data your produce.”  Its mission is to enable consumers to own and monetize their data.

Launched in 2018, the company has grown into a very reputable data marketplace, where users are given the opportunity to own and earn from their data.  They are currently headquartered in Los Angeles, California.  It’s owned by SRAX, a public company traded on the Nasdaq.

Said to be the leading ethically-sourced identity, data and insights creation platform, there’s no question BIGtoken is legit, but the question here is if it’s worth your time.

Signing Up

To sign up for BIGtoken, you can do so via iTunes or Google Play Store.  The website is not available on your desktop and is only available via a mobile device.

To sign up, the company asks you for the basics, such as your email as well as to provide a password to log back in.

At the moment, the app is only available to U.S. residents who are 18+ years old.

Earning with BIGtoken

When you first sign up, the company will ask you to “turn data monetization” on so that you can maximize your earnings.  This is optional, however, you may want to look into it.

According to the company’s terms and conditions, you can earn rewards when you opt into sharing your data and every time access to that data is purchased.  By opting into this data, you’re “directing the company to grant corporations and third parties access to the data created through the big corporations.”  That’s the gist to it, but you can read the full terms and conditions here:

Simply put, you offer your data and they aggregate with other user data to be sold to third parties.  You won’t be identified personally, however.  Again, this is optional and won’t affect your ways in making money with the app.

While you can make some money with data monetization, most will be made in the surveys, which can be found via your dashboard.

In clicking on that “High Point Surveys” tab, it will direct you to any available surveys at the moment.  Based on your demographic profile, your survey opportunities will vary, but this is what it will look like:

As you can see, it’s a simplified list that’s always changing.  You can see how long it will take as well as what you can make.  Every point is worth a penny, so that 158 point survey would be $1.58 in rewards.

In the beginning, you will see a lot of short profile questions, usually paying about a few points each.  I would advise you take these as it’s a great way to pad your balance and help increase your survey invites.

Other Ways to Earn

Aside from the high point surveys, you can earn in additional ways, including…

Daily Action Bonus

With the daily action bonus, you can log in and complete an action daily to unlock bonus points.  The more consecutive days you play, the more you can earn in bonuses.

These bonuses can include answering a survey, completing a team action or checking into a location, to name a few.

It’s a very quick task that only takes seconds to do.

Connect a Card

When you connect a debit/credit card to the app, it will reward you every time your data is utilized.  It will also reward you the first time you connect a card.

It’s said to be encrypted, secure and private, but I don’t think the rewards are worth it, at least to me.

Location Offers

The location offers are personalized based on your location history.  For example, if you visited a grocery store, the app would know.  And, based on this information, you will receive an ad.

When you opt in, you will receive a one-time award of 100 points.  In doing this, it could increase your chances of landing additional surveys in the future.

Invite Friends

For every friend you invite, you can earn up to 100 points.  If your friend, for example, answers the tutorial survey and verifies their information, then you earn 100 points; however, if they only verify their account, you will only earn 40 points.

Almost all survey companies allow you to invite your friends, so take advantage if you know of someone who may want to do this.

Connect Networks

Lastly, you can connect your social media accounts to earn a few points as well as increase your earnings in the future.

Rewards

To cash out, you will need at least $15 in rewards, and this is higher than average in comparison to most survey sites, but it’s not the worst I have seen.

All payments are made every Friday as long as you cash out before midnight Pacific time on Wednesday.

The Pros and Cons

As with everything I review, BIGtoken has both its pros and cons, all of which I cover below…

The Pros

  • great list of surveys
  • legitimate company
  • free to join
  • very easy to use
  • PayPal redemption option

The Cons

  • lots of reports the company doesn’t pay weekly (they eventually pay, however)
  • need at least $15 to cash out
  • payment can take up to seven days to receive
  • no desktop version

Final Thoughts

8/10BIGToken is 100% legit and everything I found with it seems to be on par with your typical survey apps.  If you love taking surveys and want to earn $10, $20 or even $30+ per month, I think you can do it on this app.  I read a few reviews where people said they could make more than $30 in a month.  It’s not much, but that’s not what these apps were designed for.

For now, give it a shot.  It’s free to join, after all.  Worst case, if you hate it, you can always delete it.

That’s going to do it for now.

  • I have been with big token for a long time now and a few months ago they shut down and encouraged us not to cash out, they told us if we did not cash out they would double it when they came back, but it’s been months and now the app is no longer stable it barely works for me.
