I found out about EarnHoney when I was glancing at the subreddit “beermoney” one day and saw that some people were making $1 to $3 a day, which, in my opinion, is not bad for a GPT-like website.  And it was simply by watching videos.

Being one who wants to test out these types of sites and share my reviews (the reason I started this website), I thought I would walk you through what I found out about the website/app.

In short, do I recommend it?

To put it nicely, maybe.

EarnHoney.com – Legit or Scam?

What is EarnHoney.com?

EarnHoney is your typical “GPT” website that pays you to perform various activities, ranging from completing surveys to watching videos and playing games.  Founded in 2014, the company is open to U.S. residents only.

And on the main page, I noticed the company said they were”one of the top two sites to earn money in your spare time,” and while I cannot confirm nor deny this, it is a pretty big claim to make!

They also stated they were featured on prominent websites, such as MSN, the Business Insider and Huffington Post, to name a few.  Were they?  I don’t know, to be honest.  They did have an A+ BBB rating, however.

Earning what’s known as “OPTin coins” on the website, you can eventually earn gift cards when you hit the required minimum — about $5 to be exact.

As there are a variety of ways to earn, I want to dig in and show you exactly what you can earn and if it’s even worth your time.

Signing Up

Upon landing on the website for the first time, my initial impressions were somewhere along the lines of “When was this website built?”

From the looks of it, the theme was okay, but it definitely wasn’t up to date in terms of design and felt quite dated in comparison to the competitors.

But hey, we are here to make money, right?

Before you sign up, you can see how the service works, how you can earn and even preview the videos that pay you when you watch them.

Once you’re ready, you just sign up with your name and e-mail address, and in doing so, the company will give you two OPTin coins.

However, do note that if you’re reading older reviews, some people refer to the currency as Honey Dollars but this has since changed to OPTin coins, which I will reference throughout this guide.

And if you need a registration code, you can use mine if you wish — LUSHDOL — and by using it, the company often gives you a bonus for doing so.

Aside from the main website, the company also allows you to download the EarnHoney extension or EarnHoney app for Android as well.

Like most of these types of websites, there are a variety of ways to earn, so let’s dive in and find out how you can make money here.

Dashboard

Once logged in, the company will present you with all of the offers in the center of your screen, broken down into categories, and a sidebar menu with all of your options to earn coins, as seen in the screenshot below.

Clicking on those links will simply take you to the section on the main page, which I will screenshot below beneath each earning opportunity.

At the time of this review, I was able to earn OPTin coins by watching TV, downloading apps, completing offers, giving my opinion and/or playing games.  Some sections were blank, though.

This can change from time to time, but for the most part, these offers will be very similar to a competitor website.

With a few ways to earn points, let’s take a look at each page and what’s involved.

Watch and Earn

The first way to earn via the sidebar menu was with video watching, either while on your desktop or mobile phone.

And as you can see below, my selection was limited, allowing me to choose from a few genres, either through my desktop or via a mobile app/connected TV.

While it sounds awesome to watch videos and get paid for it, do keep in mind that it pays peanuts and 99.9% of the time, it’s just not worth your time.

As you can see, one dog video would earn me 0.03 OPTin per video, which doing the math, would equal less than a penny since 1 OPTin equals 10 cents.

And from what I read online, it is possible to earn about $1 a day in doing so, but even then, that’s only $30 a month and you have to invest hours of your time.  There are much better ways, trust me.

I’m not bashing EarnHoney here, but I just don’t think watching videos is worth it, but I just wanted to include this portion since they will reward you.

If you love the idea of making cash while watching videos, I did create a huge resource on ways to get paid while watching ads, etc, if interested.

Apps and CTV (Connected TV)

In the Apps and CTV section, there wasn’t much I could choose from.  In fact, it was only three offers.

And from the looks of it, you just need to download the app or in one case, you need to watch exclusive content on your mobile device.

While it appeared to be easy, downloading the official EarnHoney app would only net me 0.5 OPTin coins or about $0.05, while another offer would pay me up to $0.50 a day when taking the pop quiz.  Again, ehhh.

This could change, but regardless of what’s here, be prepared to download an app and follow the instructions to earn your coins.

Premium Offers

In the premium offers section, it looked as if EarnHoney worked with a lot of the same offer walls I have noticed on other GPT websites, such as Peanut Labs, OfferTotro, Persona.ly, AdGateMedia, SaySo, Revenue Universe, Kiwi Wall and AceWall.  They also had a select few exclusive to their website.

And if you’re unfamiliar with offers, it’s basically a list of “offers” you can complete to get paid and can range anywhere from signing up for a free trial to signing up for an e-mail newsletter, for instance.

There are a lot of offers, but usually, if you read the instructions, you shouldn’t have a hard time getting your credit.  99% of the time, it is straightforward.

While each of these offer walls could have some great offers, you have to keep in mind that you cannot just sign up for 10 GPT websites with Peanut Labs, for instance, and perform the same offer on each.

And since these companies will record your IP address and personal information, you not only are going to waste your time doing this, but you’re going to risk your account as well.

In general, offers can be OKAY, but I only recommend some of the easy ones that require no credit card.

If you do decide to do any of these offers, even if they are free, just be sure to read the fine print as some will sell your information, meaning you should kiss your email inbox goodbye with all of the spam you’re about to receive.

Give Opinion

As one of the last ways to earn money was simply by answering surveys, but in order to get started, you did need to complete your profile first.

Like most survey screeners, you just needed to provide basic personal information and you also needed to confirm your phone number.

This is often expected of you so that you can receive targeted surveys from companies and even increase your chances of getting more opportunities to earn.

Once complete, you will then be able to gain access to your surveys to start collecting coins.

Play Games

A “play games” tab was available, but when I clicked it, I was unable to do nothing, so at this time, I can’t comment on it.

I will check again in the future to see if they activate it.

Other Ways to Earn

Aside from the typical ways to earn as mentioned above, EarnHoney offers a few other ways to earn such as inserting a “HoneyCode” or inviting friends.

HoneyCode

A HoneyCode, like a lot of other GPT websites, simply lets you insert a code you find online and make a certain amount of coins.

According to the website, you can often find these codes on Reddit, Youtube, Instagram, Facebook or via their email list if subscribed.  And while I searched, I could not find one while I was writing this, but it doesn’t mean one won’t be around when you search.

Only valid for a limited amount of time, if you do find one, be sure to use it as soon as you can to take advantage of the easiest money you will make on the website.

Refer a Friend

Almost all GPT sites, including EarnHoney, allows you to refer a friend.

And if they use your special referral link or referral code found beneath your “invite” tab near the top of your screen, then you earn 10% of their earnings for life — not bad!

So whether you blog, have a decent social media following or simply want to spread the word, you can keep track of all your invites via your dashboard.

User Panel

The “new” User Panel, from what I could gather, would list the availability of ad demand, based on a scale of 0 to 9, with “9” being the most demand.  This panel is tied in with your machine.

From what I could read online, as long as your number was in the green, then you will be able to access the service provider and earn money completing the necessary task.

However, if that number falls into the yellow or even the red, then your IP may be banned temporarily, but again, this only hearsay and seems to be implemented to let you know where your machine stands with the service providers.  In some cases, you could be banned forever.

As long as you’re following the rules and not using bots to watch videos for 15 hours straight, I don’t think you have too much to worry about.  Some said try to limit your credits to $1 or so per day.

Redemption

As with any of these websites, you do it for one reason only — to redeem your points for cash.

And EarnHoney.com lets you redeem in a variety of ways, either via its VIP redemption or as a standard VIP redemption.

To become a VIP and enjoy a fast redemption turnaround, you need to verify your information and/or earn a certain amount of offers/surveys.   I couldn’t find much about this.

In doing so, you can get paid faster via an online Visa voucher, usually processed within 24 hours.

As for standard redemptions, I had a few choices:  the EarnHoney.com Visa debit card, OPTin coin, an Amazon gift card, Paypal or I could donate to a variety of charities.  While I was browsing, some were unavailable to redeem.

Depending on your payout method, it appeared the minimum payout for me was 48.50 OPTin coins for a Visa card and 50.00 OPTin coins for a Paypal payout.

As mentioned above, every 1 OPTin coin equals 10 cents or 10 OPTin coins per $1, simply meaning the minimum payout is about $5.

And if you’re wondering, YES, they do pay as long as you play by the rules.

What People Are Saying

As with any website I review, you will always hear about the bad and the good as well.

Reading online, I found a variety of reviews, both good and bad, but to break it down, here’s a simplified version of what users were saying:

The Good

• Low $5 redemption rate with great choices such as Paypal and Amazon
• Seems to be an easy way to earn a buck or so when solely watching videos
• 100% free to join
• Good website IF they have a lot of offers (on the decline as of late)

The Bad

• Video problems such as a black screen
• Customer support seemed to take a long time to respond
• Lots of users complaining about getting their accounts banned (I will talk about this later)
• Some complain about a “soft ban,” which restricts their account for a few days
• Not a lot of offer choices
• Redemptions are either late or outright rejected for some
• Some offers don’t credit (this is common for many sites, though).

Fear of the Ban?

A lot of people online either feared getting banned while using the website or were banned, but digging deep, it was often for one of the following reasons listed below.  And as long as you play by the rules, there’s no reason to fear the ban, so to say.

• Don’t use any bots or programs which automatically refresh pages and/or open new windows.
• Don’t spam your referral link. (This is a big one)
• Don’t promote any cheats and upload it to the web while pushing your referral link.
• Create multiple accounts.
• Try to avoid earning less than 10 OPTin per hour.
• Don’t open multiple screens and attempt to watch videos.
• Avoid using a VPN.
• Limit your devices and stick to one.

Final Thoughts

If you want to make some pocket change online, then sure, EarnHoney could work, but from what I read online via users, there appears to be a lot of frustration with the fear of being banned and/or being banned 100%.

Some even complained about the lack of offers when compared to the EarnHoney of the past.

But for those who used EarnHoney consistently, it appeared they did it solely for the video watching and reportedly made about $1 to $2 a day.

Some would maximize their earnings every day, while others would “game” the system, but this appears where a lot of the bans came into play.

5/10 If you’re into the GPT-type websites, I’d just give it a meh.

Again, as it looks like a lot of people solely use the website to watch videos, I would say it could be a good choice if you just want to watch a few clips here and there, but in the end, don’t expect to make more than $25 to $30 a month, especially if you don’t plan on referring people.  Maybe $1 a day?  Or maybe even more if you can refer your friends and get them to do the same.

With so many great offer websites out there, such as PrizeRebel or Swagbucks, I cannot say this one of the best, nor can I agree with their sediment of being one of the top two sites on the web.  In fact, some EarnHoney users recommend Swagbucks since you can take advantage of the same offers.
