If you live in South Africa and you’re looking for a way to make money, specifically gift cards as a reward, then the Enlighten Panel may be an option to consider. This is a simple survey panel that rewards you whenever you answer simple survey questions. It’s very easy to use and only takes a minute to set up your account.
This is a research firm I have mentioned briefly in my 20+ paid survey options available in South Africa and I felt I would review it in detail, seeing it’s one the most popular panels in the country.
In today’s review, I wanted to talk about how much you make, how it works as well as if it’s worth your time. As in all of my reviews, I’m always 100% honest, only recommending what I feel is worth your time. Keep in mind you won’t get rich but you can make a few dollars a week with minimal effort.
Creating an Account
NOTE: If you don’t live in South Africa, then, unfortunately, you won’t be able to use this survey panel, at least at the moment. Open to South African users ONLY.
To start earning rewards, the company will first ask you to create an account just like any other research company. As mentioned, you do need to reside in South Africa and you must be at least 15+ years to successfully register.
Throughout the process, they will ask you a few personal questions, as well as some “attention check” questions to ensure you’re a human and not a bot that’s looking to scam the system.
All in all, the entire process takes about five minutes to complete, and upon confirming your email, you can start earning cash almost immediately.
Earning Rewards with Paid Surveys
The number one way you will earn money with the Enlighten Panel is through paid surveys. In fact, it’s the main way to earn.
You can either log into your account to see which surveys are available on your dashboard or you can wait for e-mail invites to come in. Personally, I like to use the dashboard as this will show the surveys in real time, but you can wait for invites as well. Keep in mind, however, that if you do wait for e-mail invites, the surveys may go quicker than expected.
Whenever you log into your account, your simple dashboard will look like the picture above. Like the many research companies out there, it’s highly advisable that you update your demographics so that they can send you targeted surveys, so if you do see a demographic survey, you should take it. The more they know about you, the more surveys you can receive, which means more rewards.
As for answering surveys, it’s very straightforward. Just open the survey, answer the questions honestly and you will be rewarded for the reward specified.
You won’t always qualify for every survey you take, but this can be said for almost any survey company I talk about. Plan on qualifying for about 20%~ of the surveys you click on.
How Much Can You Make?
I don’t live in South Africa, but I was able to play around with the website using an alias I know of.
When I used the website, I saw very few survey invites, and the ones that did pop up, didn’t pay much, maybe only a few points here and there.
Like most panels, how many survey invites you receive will greatly depend on your demographics as well as how fast you are at snagging an invite.
The Rewards
Whenever you complete a survey, you will earn points, in which you can cash out for a variety of gift card options. Cash isn’t an option at the moment but they seem to have an okay reward selection, as seen below here…
For every point you earn, it’s worth 1 Rand and you will need at least 50 Rand before you can even choose a gift card option. It seems as if you can redeem a gift card any time you want, but the company only processes the rewards once a month, around the 15th, which means, depending on when you cash out, it could take up to 20+ days to receive your reward.
While the minimum threshold is quite low at 50 Rand, which is around $3~ USD or so, the processing time is one of the longest in the industry.
Final Thoughts
4/10Enlighten Panel is a legitimate survey panel and I would say it’s a mixed bag for me. Seeing South African users don’t have much to choose from, I guess it doesn’t hurt to add your name to the list to see what kind of invites you get. Remember, you won’t make much, but I think you can make a few dollars a week. It’s going to be hit or miss, trust me.In the end, I think it’s okay, but it does have a lot lacking. For one, you can’t get cash, as you can only choose from gift cards, and the survey invites seem to be lacking, at least they were for me. However, on the plus side, you only need 50 points to cash out, which is about $3 in U.S. value, making for a low threshold.
If you do try it out or maybe you already have, let me know in the comments, as I would like to hear more about it. Again, it doesn’t hurt to at least try it to see how it works for you.
