If anyone mentions losing weight, you may instantly think about the many diet programs that cost hundreds of dollars and/or all of the food you have to buy to fit your newfound diet.
While all of this is true to an extent, what if I told you that you can actually get paid to lose weight and don’t have to worry so much about paying for something?
Yes, it’s true as there are a few companies and apps out there that will pay you cold-hard cash just for losing weight. I promise it’s not a scam nor is it some magical fairy tale. It truly does exist!
In the past, I did about the many ways you can get paid to work out, but I only touched upon the options if you only wanted to work out and get paid. Not everyone who works out wants to lose weight.
In today’s post, I wanted to talk about the many apps/companies that will pay you to lose weight, no matter how many pounds you need to shed. Again, it’s 100% legitimate and is bound to pay if you abide by the rules.
So, if you have some weight you want to lose, you may want to consider joining one of the many options below to start making cash as soon as this week.
How to Get Paid to Lose Weight
Out of all the options I list, I would have to say this is the most popular and best way to get paid to lose weight.
To start with HealthyWage, they do ask that you place a bet up front and let them how much weight you’re going to lose. So, yes, you will have to risk money just like a bet, but you can get it back and then some if you meet your goals. You can win up to $10,000!
To see how much you can potentially win in your weight loss challenge, you can play around with the calculator on the website to at least get an idea. For instance, if I were to bet $50 and said I would lose five pounds in six months, I could win anywhere between $333 and $450. That’s quite the sum!
If you feel you can’t lose weight alone, then you can join what’s known as a “team challenge,” wherein you can lose weight with others, all while getting encouragement. These challenges tend to pay even more.
As you enter a challenge, you will have to stay on track throughout the contest with weekly weigh-ins to confirm your weight loss. If you meet your weight goals at the designated times, then you win part of the prize pool, usually, the amount stated in that calculation. The average prize, according to the website, is usually more than $1,000!
For now, I would at least encourage you to check out the calculator to see how much you could win. Just remember that you will have to check in via the app to log your weight to win! So, don’t think you can scam the system.

DietBet is similar to that of HealthyWage, only that you can explore the many competitions right away without having to sign up. Plus, some of the prizes were much higher in the smaller group settings, seeing you split the pot with the remaining winners in your challenge.
Whether you want to join another competition or create your own, you will have to commit a certain amount, but you can win it back and much more if you meet the goal. You do need to pay an entry fee, but this will depend on the challenge you join. Typically, the longer the duration, the more you will pay, but don’t expect to pay more than $25 to $100, on average.
In order to weigh in to prove your progress, you will have to weigh yourself on a scale with a piece a paper on it with today’s date as well as take a full-body pose on a scale in lightweight clothing to prove who you are. In some cases, you may have to provide a video weigh-in. This information is then forwarded to the DietBet Referees to confirm your weight. They do this to keep you check and weed the scammers out of the system.
If you want to lose 4% of your current body weight, then “Weekly Kickstarter” challenges start every Monday. But, if you want to lose more than that, then you can join the “Weekly Transformer DietBet,” which starts weekly as well.
As of today, the company has hosted more than 770,000 players with more than $62+ million paid to winners.

In short, the app will pay you to do healthy things, from eating the right foods to getting enough rest at night.
To start earning, you will have to connect one of 20+ apps and start earning based on the “achievements” for the day. For instance, you could earn points for logging food in your MyFitnessPal account or even completing a survey directly on the app. There are quite a few tasks you can tackle every week.
As long as you don’t mind connecting your apps/trackers and consider yourself active, there’s no reason you can’t earn a few bucks.
Don’t expect to get rich in doing so, but it should earn you $10 every few months to stay healthy.
As I write this, the app has more than three million members with a solid 4.4/5 rating on the Google Play Store.

StickK is yet another website that works just like DietBet and HealthWage, wherein you can set a goal to lose weight and then sign a “Commitment Contract” to make sure you meet it.
Then, similar to that of the companies mentioned above, you can put money on the line to meet your defined goals.
The major difference here is that you don’t pay up front; rather, you will only be billed if you don’t meet your goals. If you do meet your goals, then StickK will pay your bet out via PayPal within 72 hours.
StickK focuses on much more than losing weight. You can also earn cash in exercising regularly, smoking, racing and even maintaining your weight.
To date, more than 450,000+ commitments have been created with more than $43 million put on the line.

Walgreens Balance Rewards
This option won’t make you a ton, but I wanted to list it here anyway as you can make money to lose weight.
If you shop at Walgreens, you may already have a Balance Rewards account. If not, sign up the next time you shop; it’s 100% free! You can earn points for every dollar spent in store, no matter what you buy! You can do so in store or even online via the official website.
Aside from being rewarded for your purchases, Walgreens will also reward you with you complete a healthy challenge, up to 100 points per week. If you complete all four challenge weeks, you can spin a bonus wheel that’s worth up to 2,000 points! That’s a $20 value.
Since the challenges always change, I would log into your account to see what can be done today to earn your points. From my experience, you can either link your device and let it automatically track your activity (in most cases) or you can log in and manually check off boxes to get your credit as well.
Now, the only downfall is that you can’t earn cash, but rather, Walgreens credits. Nonetheless, it’s a credit that can buy something.

If you’re going to a gym outside of the home, then consider downloading the free GymPact app.
To use this app, it will ask you to first commit to how many days you will exercise. Then, as you check in at your gym and work out, the app will reward you as long as you keep your “Pact.” The longer you work out while at the gym, the more you can earn.
You’re not going to make much with this app, maybe $5 a week at most, but it’s a nice app to add to the many options already mentioned to capitalize on your earnings.

Get Paid to Walk
I wanted to include this option here as well since there are more than 18+ apps that will pay you to walk.
While walking doesn’t always equate losing weight, I just wanted to include the idea as it’s yet another way to earn rewards. Don’t expect to get rich, but you could make a few bucks just for walking as you always do.

Look for a Clinical Trial
This is kind of a stretch, but it is a possibility to earn hundreds or even thousands, all dependent upon the study.
What’s known as a “clinical trial,” this is an experiment and/or observation done in clinical research to test new products that haven’t hit the market just yet, such as a new weight loss medication. In general, doctors and medical staff will often need people who fit a certain demographic, such as someone looking to lose weight, and they are willing to pay you to help them.
While there are risks involved, it’s best to do your due diligence before committing, no matter what the price tag is. As you will be often be ingesting medicine and/or having something injected, it could have long term side effects that are not yet noted.
