Getupside Review: $0.25+ off per Gallon? Yup!

Some of the links may be from a sponsor. Advertising Disclosure

GetUpside is an app that helps you earn cash back on your food, grocery store and gas purchases.  If you have ever watched a rideshare YouTube video, most YouTubers often promote this company, mainly because they receive a fat commission every time you sign up, but it can also help you save on gas any time you fill up at a participating gas station.

Sure, while I accept commissions, it doesn’t mean I’m going to lie and say nice things about it.  I don’t work that way.  I’m all about transparency and being honest.  I just got sick of all the scams, upsells and garbage I found online, the main reason I created this website and YouTube channel.

In today’s GetUpside review, I wanted to download the GetUpside app, use it and then report back my findings.

Can you save up to $0.25 per gallon?

Can you save up to 35% on your food bill?

Well, we’re about to find out!

What is the GetUpside App?

GetUpside is a free app that you can download, either on the Google Play Marketplace or iTunes.  According to the official description, “GetUpside is a platform that lets you shop as usual and earn cash back, but in a way that makes sure businesses earn too.”  You will just need to claim an offer, pay as usual with your credit/debit card and then upload your receipt to claim your cash back.  Most of the offers on the app, as you’re about to see, are often gas stations or restaurants, but who knows if they will add any other industries in the future.

The app is operated by Upside Services, Inc., which is a subsidiary of A-Frame Ventures, a venture capital firm.  A-Frame Ventures appears to invest in resources during the early stages, providing expertise where they add “value.”

There’s no doubt that the companies behind the scene are 100% legit, but the true question is if it’s worth your time.

Signing up for GetUpside

To start with GetUpside, they will first ask you to create an account, either by signing up with your email or if you want to, you can connect via your Apple, Google or Facebook account.  Whichever way you choose, it will take you to the same dashboard.

Signing up takes maybe 30 seconds at most, and the app is available for both Android and iOS devices.

The app is 100% free to join and is open to anyone who has a credit/debit card.

Your Dashboard

After you sign up, you immediately access your dashboard, and it will look something like this…

What you’re going to see is a list of gas stations, restaurants as well as grocery stores that are participating with the app at the moment.  You can either browse by scrolling through the map or you can use the list found near the bottom of the app.  Remember, these apps always change, so keep checking in to see which companies are being added.

Next to each offer, you will see the company name, the address as well as the bonus.  So, for example, that Exxon offer seen in the screenshot above would get you $0.17 cashback.

The Offers

The offers are always updating, so no matter when you log in, you may see a new offer.  And, to claim your offer, it’s as simple as clicking on that claim offer and then making your purchase with a connected debit/credit card.

Let me give you an example screenshot here…

If you were to click the claim button for the BP offer above, it would bring you to the screen below:

As you can see, it’s as easy as checking in when you arrive, paying with a credit/debit card that you link within the app, and then getting cash once your purchase is verified, usually via a receipt upload, so make sure you save it!  In some cases, you may have to upload a receipt, but most of the time, it’s automated as long as your card is linked.

With these links, just make sure that you read the fine print to understand the terms as some offers are timed as well as a limit as to how many gallons you can get.  Usually, however, you can’t fill up for more than 50 gallons, which shouldn’t be a problem.

When you’re ready, you will just click on the “check in” button, make your purchase with that linked card and wait for your cashback to show up in your account.

Make Sure You Link a Card

To make sure you get cashback, you need to make sure you link any credit/debit card to your account.

To get started, just click on the “My Wallet” tab and then add a new card.  This can be either a debit or credit card and you can add as many cards as you want.  Once you link it, these cards will now show up and will be officially linked.

The great thing is that it only asks for a few numbers, not your entire card, so this can be a plus if you don’t like the idea of handing out your information.

As long as your card is active and you claim your offer, you will get the cashback as long as you follow the terms.  It’s as easy as that.

Cashing Out and Getting Paid

Whenever you get cashback, it will be added to your balance, so it isn’t “credited” to your credit card in a way.  Instead, you will have to cash out.  In most cases, you can get your cashback within 24 to 48 hours.

The great thing about the app is that you can cash out at any time and you only need a $1 minimum balance if you choose a PayPal balance.  However, if you want a gift card, then you will need to save at least $10.  Cash is usually the best option, but gift cards are a choice, too.

At the moment, the app offers a variety of gift card options, including your more popular options such as Amazon, Apple, Google Play and Nike, to name a few.

If you choose a gift card, it will be sent to you digitally via email.

Is GetUpside Legit?

Yes!  Without a doubt, this is a legitimate company.  As mentioned in the beginning, they are backed by a reputable venture firm and have been known to pay out.  As long as you follow the terms, you shouldn’t have a problem getting your cash back.

And, if you’re wondering how the app works, the concept is simple.  The businesses gain exposure, in which they pay for on the app, and the app shares its advertising dollars in a way, sharing the fees with you in terms of savings.  It’s a win-win for everyone, essentially.

The Pros

  • The app has a solid 4.6/5 rating on the Google Play Store.  This is very high for apps in the industry.  One of the only complaints, at least from what I read revolved around receipt technical issues.  It had nothing to do with payouts or scams.
  • The app is very easy to use as they make it so easy to find the deals in your area.  Just open up the map, find a business of interest and check in.
  • You are getting paid for purchases you’re already making.  I know you’re filling up with gas, so why not save $0.10+ every time?
  • It’s 100% free to download.  Worst case, if you don’t like what you see, you can always delete the app.
  • When it comes time to cash out, you can get your reward within 24-48 hours 99% of the time.

The Cons

  • There may be limited choices in your area, so don’t be disappointed if you open the app and find out your selection is limited.
  • I have read there have been glitches, but this can be said with most apps.

Final Thoughts

10/10Depending on where you live, GetUpside can be a huge plus.  All you need to upload your receipt and use a linked credit/debit card.  Since there’s a good chance you’re already filling up for gas or even eating out, why not save some cash?  It’s a very simple app to use and only takes a few seconds of your time.

In the end, I highly recommend it.  The app is so easy to use, it’s operated by a legitimate company and you’re getting paid up for the purchases you’re already making. Just follow the directions and you won’t have a problem.
