If you’ve been a fan of Ibotta for some time, you may be wondering if there are ways to make even more money with the app.

And, if you’re not familiar with it, this app is considered to be one of the best shopping cashback apps.  You buy the products specified on the app and Ibotta then credits your account just like a coupon.  The company has thousands of offers and has paid out millions to its members.  It’s as legit as it gets.

If you use the app or you plan on using it, I wanted to create a very simple guide so that you can maximize your earnings on the app.  By implementing the following Ibotta cheats, you’re sure to maximize your earnings with the app.

Almost every grocery store chain has some sort of loyalty card, and if you’re a frequent shopper, I’m sure you have one.

The cool thing about Ibotta is that you can link your loyalty card and it will scan your purchases to see if you qualify for any rebates.  This means you essentially have to do nothing since Ibotta already has access to all of your purchases.

To see which stores are supported as well as how you can do it, refer to this FAQ portion on the site.  Doing so is 100% safe and will save you a ton of time.

Download the Extension

Ibotta offers more than just deals inside the grocery store.  They also offer cash back for hundreds of online retailers.  All you need to do is click a special link and you get the cash back.

Now, here’s the thing…

Oftentimes, with cash back sites, most of us forget to check them and it leads to a lot of lost money.  This is where the extension comes in.

If you use Google Chrome, you can install the browser extension and it will then alert you whenever you’re shopping on a site it supports.  Just start shopping as you would, and if there’s any item and/or retailer you can save money with, it will alert you.

This is one of the many extensions out there that work like it, and I wouldn’t say it’s the best, but it’s one to consider.  If you like the idea, be sure to check out Honey and Rakuten, as they tend to support more online retailers.

Pay Attention to the Major Holidays

Almost always, Ibotta has fantastic rebates going around the holidays, so make it a habit to at least check out the app to see if there’s anything you can take advantage of.

For example, this past Thanksgiving, Ibotta gave away a free dinner through Walmart.  It included up to 10 items and you received 100% back in a form of a rebate.  This is one of the best deals held throughout the year.

There’s no saying it’s going to be continued throughout the years ahead, but it seems like a habit for them to do so.  All I’m saying is that you should check out the app for any notices during Christmas, Thanksgiving, etc to see if there are any massive rebates to use.

Stack Coupons

Yes, coupons still exist, both online as well as in the newspaper on Sundays.

Be sure to use very popular coupon matchup sites such as CouponMom and Krazy Koupon Lady, to name a few.  These websites will tell you about the deals available for the week as well as which coupons are available.  They will explore both the printed/online options as well as what you can use with Ibotta.

When you use both Ibotta and coupons in store, you can maximize your savings, sometimes coming home with items that make you money.

Download Apps Like Ibotta

Ibotta isn’t the only player in town, and for that reason, I highly recommend you download as many of these apps as possible to maximize your savings.

Some apps only require you upload your receipt whereas others work like Ibotta.  Even if these apps have the same offer, you can upload your receipt to all of them.  There’s nothing wrong with that.

Check in Daily for Bonuses

Every day, Ibotta offers bonuses, which you can take advantage of to earn even more.

For example, as I’m writing this, I could earn an additional $0.25 if I bought a particular sour cream brand or $0.50 if I were to buy a Cottonelle product.

These bonuses will show up on your home screen and will continue to change.  Make it a habit to turn on your app to see which offers are available and only take advantage of the ones that make the most sense.

Sometimes, they are even hidden.  According to Reddit, to find the hidden bonuses, you will have to browse the “Earn More” section to see what’s available.  Even though they are “hidden,” you just have to dig through the app to find them.

Always Take Advantage of Sign-up Bonuses

Ibotta almost always offers a sign-up bonus, so if you haven’t signed up already, be sure to take advantage.

Now, the bonuses vary, anywhere from as little as a few dollars to as much as $20.  In many cases, you will have to meet some requirements to qualify for the bonus.  For example, you may have to scan one receipt or you may have to purchase so many items.  Usually, it’s fairly easy, but just make sure you read the fine print to know what’s expected of you.

This bonus does expire, so when you do sign up, attempt to tackle it as fast as possible.

Buy the Smallest

Most of the rebates located in the Ibotta app will often say you can buy any size.  And, if this is the case, consider buying the smallest size to maximize your profits.

Scan Items You Shop

The next time you go grocery shopping, make it a habit to scan every item you add to your cart.  I know it sounds like a lot of work, but you may be surprised as to what’s offered in the app.

If the item pops up, read the fine print to make sure it qualifies and then add it.  Most of the time, in doing this, I can always find a few items that I didn’t think would exist.

Final Thoughts

These are a few of my favorite Ibotta hacks to earn more money. Make it a habit to implement them and I’m certain you can make even more.

Unfortunately, there are no “hacks” to earn more such as submitting a receipt twice or covering certain parts of it.  This will never work and isn’t worth the time.  Ibotta is good as it is, and it’s not worth the ban for an additional few cents.
