If you’re interested in data entry work, you may have heard of the company MegaTypers.com before. If not, it’s said to be a remote company that pays you anywhere between $100 to $250+ per month to type.
It doesn’t seem like a job that will allow you to work freely full-time, however, it may have the potential for you to earn a hundred dollars or so a month. If that sounds of interest to you, then this may be a company of consideration, but it may not be for everyone.
In today’s review, I will talk about MegaTypers and how it works in detail. I will discuss how it works, what you can make as well as what the internet thinks about it. As in all of my reviews, I’m always 100% honest, only recommending what I feel is worth your time.
What is MegaTypers?
The company is a legitimate service that primarily focuses on providing data entry services. And, as a data entry specialist, it will be your job to convert images into text or transcription from voice to text. Your job varies as to what you will do, but most will revolve around transcribing text mostly such as captcha images.
Is MegaTypers a scam or 100% legit?
Let me preface that MegaTypers isn’t a scam. It’s, indeed, legit, and you can make money, however, it may not be worth your time, depending on where you live in the world. If you do decide to sign up, they do reward you, albeit it may not be worth your time.
Understanding MegaTypers Pay
When you create an account, you will be able to access a dashboard on your desktop which looks something like this:
On the main dashboard, you can see your latest statistics, the top 100 most accurate typers (top typers get bonus TyperCredits) as well as the latest statistics, which are the rates you will get paid.
Now, if you notice, the company pays “TC,” which is the in-house currency, known as TyperCredits, in which you can then cash out for rewards, such as PayPal. And, how much you make will depend on how fast you type, as you can see. If you see the above, you can make “$0.7o TC” in the first hour of the day for every 1,000 images. The rate then increases to $1 in hours 13-14, which was the hour I was currently working with.
The hour just depends on the time of the day. If it’s midnight on the server, then it would be hour one. If it were 13:24, as the image displays, then it’s hour 13. Some hours will pay more than others.
Starting Work
If you want to start working, then it’s as easy as clicking the “Start Working” button or the “Typer Solver” button. Keep in mind that both of them work in the same way, only that the “Typer Solver” allows you to get faster images, which can make you more, but it’s not as much as you think.
When you click on the “start working,” for instance, it will immediately present you with a job that looks something like this:
Most of what I found was that you would have to just fill out captcha forms.
So in that example, I would just put in “hxph8” and hit “submit answer” within 10 seconds. Referring back to that payment page, I would need to complete 1,000 of these to earn $1 in TyperCredits. You will always see your typing rate at the top of your screen, and remember, it’s based on the current server time.
These captchas can be hard to complete too as some are very blurry and some can take more than a few seconds to comprehend. It’s not always as easy as it seems.
Also, if you solve more than X in an hour, then you could earn a boost, only if you purchase a boost pack, which can set you back $0.02 TC or so. In most cases, unless you plan on staring at your screen for an hour or so, I don’t feel these boost packs are worth it.
What are TyperPoints and TyperCredits Worth?
Like the many reward sites out there, MegaTypers pays you in their own in-house currency. Most companies do this because they want it to seem like you’re earning more than you are. After all, wouldn’t you rather see $1 TC than $0.01? It’s a mind game and I really don’t like it.
Every TyperPoint is worth $0.01 (one cent), but TyperCredits are different in that you have to exchange TyperPoints for your $TC balance. This is the same rate, however.
Getting Paid
MegaTypers offers a few ways to get paid, including:
- PayPal ($3)
- Western Union ($100)
- WebMoney ($3)
- BitCoin ($10)
- LiteCoin ($1)
Depending on the option you choose, the minimum withdrawal will vary, but to make things easy, I went ahead of put the minimum required next to each payment option.
And, depending on which option you choose, payments will vary as to when they are sent out. For example, all PayPal payments are made on a Monday, whereas Western Union payments will be sent out on the first Tuesday of the month.
MegaTypers does recommend you choose PayPal, and I’m sure most people choose it as payment. If you do, you can expect a payment weekly if you meet the $3 minimum threshold.
How Much Can I Make?
If you were to complete 1,000 captchas, you will only earn $1 in rewards, on average, sometimes even less if you’re on the server at a slower time. Doing the math, it isn’t great, either.
It probably took me five seconds to complete a captcha, so doing the math, I could complete about 12 per minute or about 720 per hour. That’s if I were to do it non-stop. That means I will make about $0.70 per hour and that’s not a typo. Granted, you could make more if you’re in the top 100 fastest typers. In this case, you could maybe double or triple your rate, which, still isn’t great. Even if you were in the top leaderboards, you would still make $3 or less per hour.
The rate for these types of data entry work is very low in pay, and it’s the reason I highly recommend you avoid it. If you’re happy making less than $1 per hour, then it may be something to consider.
Signing Up
If you are interested in joining MegaTypers (I don’t recommend it), then you will need to create an account, which maybe takes two minutes at most.
As you can see, it’s not much. All they want is your email, name as well as how you want to get paid.
One thing is that you will need an invitation code to start and if you don’t have one, you need it. I didn’t have one and a quick Google search found me a code. If you’re in need of one, I recommend you go this route.
Upon completion, you can get started immediately.
MegaTypers if open to all and you only need to be 18+ to join.
Final Thoughts
0/10Mostly, you will solve captchas and earn peanuts for doing so. If you’re happy earning $1 to $2 per hour doing very mundane work, then I say, sure, go ahead; however, I don’t recommend it personally. It’s boring, it doesn’t pay much and you will be ripping your eyes out after just 20 minutes of work. It’s not worth it and it’s a lot of work for what you’re making. While people do this type of work and make a few dollars, you’re much, much better off doing a $1 survey instead of wasting an hour of your time. Survey don’t pay much, but at least you don’t have to invest a lot of your time.
That’s going to wrap it up for now.
