Quest Mindshare Review: Another Survey Website?

Some of the links may be from a sponsor. Advertising Disclosure

Quest Mindshare is one of the many market research companies on the internet.  And, the great thing about this company is that they are almost always looking for panelists who want to earn some cash on the side.  This is where you come into the picture.  Sometimes, if you work with companies like Swagbucks, you will often see this company pop up.

Now, like most survey companies, you won’t make a lot of money, so you won’t want to go in with the mindset that you’re going to get rich.  It just won’t happen, unfortunately.  However, the panel may be able to earn you a few dollars for every survey you take.

In today’s review, I take a look at Quest Mindshare.  I explore how much you can make, what others think about it, as well as if it’s worth your time.  As always, I’m 100% honest.

What is Quest Mindshare?

Quest Mindshare was founded in 2003, making it one of the older market research companies on the web.  They have more than 50 employees are a privately held company in Oakville, Ontario.  According to the LinkedIn page, they are said to have the “most flexible and extensive groups of online panel assets in the industry.”  It’s another one of the many research firms that help companies gather insight from people like you to help improve products and services.   It will be your job to answer surveys and earn what’s known as “Quest Mindshare points.”

They have worked with many prominent clients, such as Disney, Lego, NBC and so many more.  Just check out the “clients” tab on the main homepage to see what I’m talking about.

There’s no doubt they are legit, but the question is if it’s worth your time.

Signing Up

To sign up, Quest Mindshare asks for the basics, such as your email, name and then some simple demographic questions, such as your zip code.  This is standard among most research panels and it should only take you a few minutes at most to get started.  It was very simple in comparison to most survey-like sites.

However, after you confirm your email, they will then ask you to fill out your profile in its entirety so that they can learn more about you.  This is optional, though. With these survey sites, the more they can learn about you, the more targeted the surveys can be.  This is why it’s so important you fill out this profile.  Even though it takes a few minutes, I promise you it can be worth it.

As you can see from the screengrab above, you will need to fill out about 15 separate profile surveys, ranging from hobbies to your education.  You can do these at your own pace, but again, it’s recommended you fill them all out.

Before you get excited about signing up, however, they aren’t always accepting new panel members.

For instance, while I was writing this, registration was closed.  However, this doesn’t mean you can’t join.  Keep checking back as they open up slots on occasion.

Quest Mindshare is open to residents older than 14+ and mostly worldwide.  It’s 100% free to join.

The Surveys

After you sign up and confirm your email, you can then start to take surveys, which will be sent via email invites.  Most surveys take no longer than 10 minutes and can pay around $1 to $3 on average; however, you may find that some surveys can pay much more.  I’m talking up to $90!  These are usually your music-like surveys, but they are very rare to find, so don’t expect to see them show up.

When you do get a survey invite, be sure to check out the deadline as some surveys need to be completed within a certain timeframe, usually around 24 hours.

Survey topics range on just about anything, from your opinion on a product to a global issue.  Depending on the client you’re working with, it can greatly vary.

How many surveys will I get?

This will depend on your demographics and if you fill out your profile in its entirety.  From what I read, you should expect a handful of invites a month, maybe 5-10.

Also, keep in mind that the company offers more than just surveys.  They also offer video and music feedback options, in which you will watch a video or listen to an audio clip.  After, you will then be asked to supply your feedback.  These types of surveys tend to be pay more, but you won’t find them as often as the traditional survey options.

How much do the surveys pay?

As mentioned prior, the average tends to be within that $1 to $5 range, but some of your larger surveys can pay as much as $50 to $100.  This is very rare, but I have read a few occurrences where people talked about taking one.

For example, one user on Reddit stated they were invited to a 2 1/2 hour music survey for about $60.  A few others noted they were invited as well.

Rewards

For every survey you take, you will earn points, in which you can cash out for a variety of rewards, including PayPal, gift cards and a physical check.  Every point is worth a penny each, so the math is easy here.

To cash out via PayPal, you will need at least 12,500 points, a $12.50 value to cash out.  In this case, you can receive your payment to your PayPal account within four business days.  The company does charge a 2% PayPal fee, so keep this in mind.  If you choose the check option, the redemption is the same, but it can take up to six weeks to receive your check.

The gift card options, on the other hand, start at 10,000 points, and they have a variety of options, including Amazon.

The Pros:

  • reputable company that works with 100s of well-known clients
  • $10 minimum payout
  • PayPal and gift card options
  • potential of earning up to $100 (rare, however)

The Cons:

  • not a lot of earning potential
  • no mobile app
  • a lot of personal profiles to fill out to receive more survey invites

Final Thoughts

7/10Quest Mindshare is 100% legit, and it seems like the many survey companies out there.  It’s reputable and can make you some money, but it won’t be much.  I’m talking $10 to $20 a month at most.  Of course, this will depend on your demographics and how often you log in to take the surveys.

I have always found survey sites to be a nice way to buy a dinner here or there, but it’s definitely not a way to replace a part-time job.  As long as you have that mindset, it’s not too bad.

That’s going to do it for now.

As always, check out the site for hundreds of ways to make, save and be smart with your money.  Until next time…
