SnapGig is said to be an “on demand” mobile workforce with more than 20,000+ providers. As a customer, you can enter your zip code, select a service needed, and then choose from a variety of providers who may be able to complete your job on demand. The website has a built in chat feature that makes it that much easier to hire and work out the details.
Similar to that of TaskRabbit, a website I have mentioned so many times, SnapGig reminded me a bit like it as you could sign up as a provider and then wait for someone to contact you in case they want to hire you. The key difference, however, is that they worked with a lot more industries. On the downside, though, they aren’t nearly as popular so you may not receive as much action.
In today’s review, I just wanted to take a glance at SnapGig and see what it was all about. Should you become a provider? Will it provide you with a lot of work? You’re about to find out in this review.
As in all of my reviews, I’m 100% honest, only recommending something I would personally use. I don’t push scams nor would I talk highly of a company just because they are paying me. I don’t work that way.
So, whether you’re a contractor, caterer or can fix computers, SnapGig may be worth checking out.
What is SnapGig?
According to the website, SnapGig was created to bring on-demand work to your fingertips. Since our lives are fast-paced, and keeping up can be hard, SnapGig wanted to create a platform that connected you with people in no time. They are said to be the only platform that gives you complete control, offering a range of opportunities.
As a service, they give you full control as well as convenience. You can sign up for a service as a customer or you can find service providers on your own. No matter which option you choose, you can set your price, communicate via the chat and decide when you want to work. As I write this, they have more than 50 categories.
Aside from the about us page, I couldn’t find much more about the company in terms of where they are headquartered, how many employees they may have, etc. This isn’t a bad thing per se, but it can raise red flags to some
Signing up for SnapGig
If you’re interested in becoming a provider with SnapGig, you will have to register on the website, which can be done via the “Become a Provider!” link in the upper-right hand corner of the site.
Then, the company will ask you for typical information, from your name to your contact information such as phone number and email address.
After that’s done, you can then choose from two programs to get started, one being free, while the other will set you back $35 per month. However, the first 30 days are free.
Like any subscription-based service, there are different inclusions for each, but the biggest difference is that the premium version will include up to 100 leads as well as five free SnapGig Now! hours. You can also offer services in three categories.
Depending on where you live, I would first start with the $0 a month program just to see how many people are requesting services you’re offering. What you may find is that no one is your area is requesting anything at all and you may just be wasting your money. While you can test the waters for the first 30 days, just be sure to set a reminder to cancel your payment so that the recurring billing doesn’t start.
SnapGig does not take a commission, so you get to keep every dollar you make.
Making Money With SnapGig
To start making money with SnapGig, you will first have to add a service as well as add a few sentences to your “About Me” section. This is where you can let people know about your history, what you can do for them, etc. You will just want to sell yourself.
Then, depending on the plan, you choose, you will need to add your service. In the case of the Starter plan, you can only add one. So, for this review, I will just walk you through the one service option. As mentioned above, they work with a lot of categories, so there’s a good chance that what you do will be offered here. Here’s a screenshot of the categories they are currently offering:
After you add a category to your profile, you can add your rates as well as add any additional skills you may have.
Waiting for Jobs
Once your profile is complete, it’s now a waiting game. Whenever someone searches for your skill in your area, you will show up in the search results, but it will be up to them to hire you if they like what they see.
For example, I live in the metropolitan Phoenix, Arizona area, and when I searched for “article writers,” there were quite a few people I could hire.
This is why it’s so important that your bio sells yourself. Again, picture it like a resume!
Remember, if someone does message you, it does count toward your “monthly leads.” So, if you sign up for a starter account, you can only message up to 30 people.
If someone does message you, then you can work out the details, such as pay, etc, before taking the job. As you continue to use the platform, you can gather reviews from other buyers, helping it increase your chances of getting hired.
Final Thoughts
3/10SnagGig is good in theory and I guess it doesn’t hurt to add a profile, but honestly, I don’t think you should expect much out of it. Using traffic estimator tools, such as SimilarWeb, they say the website receives next to nothing in terms of traffic. So, if there’s no traffic, there’s probably no buyers. If you do sign up, just use the free profile option for now as it’s not worth the $35 a month. The free option is good for now and could lead to some jobs, but I wouldn’t count on it.
