The Tada app is one of the many that pays you to scan your receipts. Simply put, you shop and you can then upload your receipt for cash. If you purchase the items noted within the app, you can make a few dollars here and there purchasing the household items you often make, such as milk, eggs, etc.
It’s operated by the powerhouse, Prodege, the same company that runs the very popular Swagbucks and Inbox Dollars, so there’s no doubt it’s a legitimate organization.
If you’re a fan of these receipt scanning apps or maybe you want to know about how the Tada app, I wanted to show you how this app works as well as if it’s worth your time.
As in all of my reviews, I’m always 100% honest, only recommending what I feel is worth your time.
Signing up for Tada
Signing up for Tada is 100% free, and in order to get started, you will have to download the app, which is available via the Google Play Store or iTunes.
To sign up, it’s as easy as using your e-mail address as well as creating a password so that you can log back in the future.
The app is open to all U.S. residents, 18+.
NOTE: If you already have a Swagbucks or MyPoints account, you can use that account instead, seeing it’s operated by the same company.
How the Tada App Works
If you’re a grocery shopper, then the Tada app will pay you to shop. And, it’s simple.
Just shop as you normally would and then upload your receipt once done. If any of the items on your list are in the Tada database, you get rewarded. And, the cool thing is that you can browse the items before you even shop, so you maximize your points. I often check the app to see what’s out there, but it’s not required. You may find that in some cases that there will be deals where you can actually get an item for next to nothing.
For every item that qualifies, you will earn a set number of points, which you can then redeem for a variety of rewards, including Amazon and PayPal, to name a few. I will get more into this later.
Dashboard
After you create an account, you can access your dashboard, which will look something like this…
You will be able to see “featured” stores as well as “recommended deals.” Oftentimes, whenever you see a deal, you can purchase it anywhere, as long as it’s a reputable retailer and you save your receipt, of course. Usually, you will see an “available retailers” list whenever you click on an item.
So, if we were going to look at a deal, for example, I will pick out the “Baby Ruth bars” deal, and it will look like this:
In this case, if I were to buy one Baby Ruth candy bar, I would receive 25 SB, which is $0.25. Every SB is worth a penny. Or, if I were to buy two on the same receipt, I would get 100 SB, which means I get $1 credited back to my account. As long as that deal is on my receipt, I get the bonuses.
At any given moment, there are hundreds of deals, but I like to browse through many of them, especially if I need something in particular. It’s a great way to maximize your savings.
Scanning Your Receipt
After you complete your purchase, make it a habit to upload your receipt as quickly as possible. While you have 30 days to upload it in most cases, I do it as a habit just so that I don’t forget.
In some cases, you can connect your frequent shopper’s card so that you don’t need to upload your receipt. For example, the Kroger brands allow you to link your account. This means you never need to upload a receipt as it will propagate your data immediately after purchasing. This can save you a lot of time, as long as you’re comfortable in doing so. If not, you can simply take a picture using your phone.
Usually, immediately after uploading, they will credit your account with points.
Treasure Hunt (Boost)
Aside from being able to scan your receipts, you can also go on what’s known as a treasure hunt.
In this case, you can browse a list, which looks like the picture above and then find an item.
So, that Whole Foods store I clicked on offered a 5 SB bonus if I were able to simply scan the barcode. In the treasure hunt section, you do not need to purchase anything. Instead, all you need to do is scan the item to get the reward. This could help if you’re simply stopping in the store and want to earn some easy SB.
Rewards
Once you earn at least 110 SB in rewards, you can begin to cash out. That’s only $1 in rewards, but you can reach this threshold relatively fast. This is one of the lowest minimum thresholds in the industry.
The great thing about the Tada app is that you can cash out for almost anything, including PayPal cash or virtually any restaurant or retailer. The list is too long, but if you can think of a retailer/restaurant, there’s a good chance it’s on the list.
And, while it will take at least 110 SB to cash out, I would recommend you wait until you hit at least 500 to 1,000 SB so you can maximize your rewards.
When you cash out, payments are sent within 24 to 72 hours, depending on the time of the week
Get Cash Back via Retailers, Too
On the main desktop site, you can earn cash back as well if you were to shop with hundreds of the retailers they work with, such as Target, Walmart, Home Depot and many more.
Like the many cash back websites out there, it’s as simple as clicking on a special link so that it can track your purchases and then making the purchase as you normally would. Then, when the purchase completes, you can get the cash back noted, usually between one to 15%.
At the moment, it appears you can only get cash back via retailers on the main desktop website, but this may change. I just wanted to mention this here if you shop online often.
The Pros:
- Backed by a very reputable company
- Very easy to use
- Many offers that can often get you the items for free
- Offers a big bonus, sometimes up to $20+
- Has many rewards, including PayPal and Amazon
The Cons:
- You may find glitches with the website/app where it doesn’t track your receipts
- Sometimes the bonus has tough restrictions
- I found the cash back shopping rates to much lower than competitors
Final Thoughts
7/10The great thing about these receipt scanning apps is that you can use a ton of them, and it’s while I recommend you download as many as possible to maximize your earnings. It’s easy as scanning your receipt and that’s it. And, while you won’t get rich doing this, you can at least get a few dollars back a month when you do this. It’s not much, but I like maximizing my savings whenever I can.In the end, why not download as many as you can? Tada is one I recommend as well as others. It’s backed by a reputable organization and it seems as if they have a ton of great opportunities.
For now, download it on your phone and scan the next few receipts you gather to see what you can earn.
That’s going to wrap it up.
As always, you can comment on the app or add to what I have already written below. That’s what the comments section is for after all. Thanks for stopping by and I will catch you all next time.
