Tapestri is an app you might consider if you’re looking to make a bit of extra money on the side. And, the app suggests that it’s possible just by having their app running on your phone. Naturally, the question arises when reading this: “Is Tapestri truly as passive as it sounds or is it too good to be true?”
To answer that, I’ll provide an overview of what Tapestri is about as well as its offerings. At the end of this review, you should have all of the information you need to determine if it aligns with your money-making preferences.
As in all of my reviews, I’m 100% honest, only recommending what I feel is worth your time. Let’s begin!
What is Tapestri?
To put it simply, it’s a Get-Paid-To (GPT) platform, which gathers data from your mobile phone. If the thought of data gathering raises alarms about your personal details like bank credentials or passwords, you can breathe easily. Tapestri is only interested in your location data, and this is collected without tying it back to you. To ensure the data is shared without compromising user identity, Tapestri uses a pseudonymized ID system. This way, even when the data is sold, the user’s actual identity remains undisclosed.
To put it simply, Tapestri aims to turn the tables on the usual data monetization model. Instead of allowing companies to profit off of user data without any compensation to the user, Tapestri offers users financial compensation for their data.
Before we dive deeper, however, it’s important to know that Tapestri is legit and it does compensate you for simply having it operate in the background of your device. But the essential question remains if it’s worth your time.
The best approach to answer this is by understanding its earning potential and gauging whether the reward justifies the effort.
For now, let’s talk about how you can make money with the app.
#1 Simply Let It Run
This is what Tapestri is known for and it’s one of the main reasons people download this app. Yes, you can make money just by letting it run silently on your phone.
All you have to do is install it, allow it to access your location, and go about your day. Whether you’re grocery shopping, taking the kids out, or heading to work, the app monitors your movements to understand your mobile activity. But remember, it ensures your personal identity remains concealed. So, you maintain your privacy while the app does its thing.
The rewards you earn directly post to your account. Simply put, you’re earning without any active effort on your part, however, to boost these earnings, there are additional ways to earn.
For now, if you always have this option enabled and you’re constantly moving, you can earn anywhere from $5 to $20+ per month on average. However, this will vary on your geographical location.
#2 Map-based Check-ins:
Tapestri offers an interesting feature with its map/check-in system.
Open the app, head to the map, and it then pinpoints your location. Aside from this, you will see various places on the map that offer rewards for checking in. But here’s the thing you need to know about. While it might sound tempting to hop from one spot to another just for the rewards, it’s not really worth the effort considering the modest reward points. However, if you’re someone who’s often out and about in the city, it’s a nice bonus. Just keep the app handy and periodically check for potential check-in spots to grab those extra points.
#3 Surveys
Tapestri also provides an option to answer surveys for rewards.
If you’ve ever engaged with survey platforms, this will be familiar. For those who don’t know what I’m talking about, here’s how it works.
First, you will start with a set of initial questions to see if you fit the demographic they’re targeting. If you’re the right demographic, you will then proceed with the main survey. If not, you simply look for another one. Do note, however, the number of available surveys may vary based on where you live. From what I’ve observed, regions like the US, UK, and Canada tend to have a better selection.
Surveys don’t pay all that much and Tapestri definitely isn’t your best option to complete surveys, but if you want to do so, the platforms they do work with are legit.
#4 Playing Games
If you like playing games, Tapestri pays you for that as well.
Browse the games section in the app and select from the list of featured games. Your rewards are calculated by the minute, but there’s a catch, however. The longer you stick to one game, the less you will earn from. It’s the app’s way of nudging you to explore different games, ensuring they benefit too. So, switch between games to optimize your rewards.
Playing games will never earn you a lot of money, no matter which type of gaming app you use, but again, if you take advantage, you will get paid. Just make sure you know what your time is worth before investing it.
#5 Refer a Friend
Tapestri provides you the opportunity to earn more through its referral system. Essentially, it means that you invite friends/family to join the app and you can earn whenever they do.
All you need to do is give them your unique link, and when they sign up, they’re connected to you as a referral. Then, you will get a reward for every successful sign-up through your link, and the reward varies based on your referral’s location.
Dive deeper, and you’ll discover there are two layers to this.
Tapestri offers a two-tiered referral system that allows its users to earn through their referrals and their referrals’ subsequent invitations.
At level one, you earn $1 for every individual who installs and joins the app using your unique affiliate link. If you convince 15 people to register via your link, your earnings stand at $15. There’s no cap on the number of direct referrals, so the potential for earning increases with every additional person you introduce.
At level two, your earnings come from the individuals your direct referrals introduce to the app.
Let’s say your 15 direct referrals (from Tier 1) each introduce 4 new users. This totals 60 new users. For each of these new users, you earn $1, resulting in $60. Like Tier 1, there’s no restriction on the number of indirect referrals, meaning you can substantially increase your earnings as your network grows.
With an effective marketing strategy and a vast network, you could easily earn over $50 monthly from the referral program. On the other hand, even those who aren’t necessarily skilled in networking can earn simply by letting the app function on their device, gathering data, and earning a modest amount each month.
What Can I Earn?
Your earnings, like so many apps out there, largely depend on your involvement and how much you move around.
In playing around with this app, I think you could earn up to $15 per month just by having the app track your movements. If you were to engage in the other activities on the app, as noted above, you could earn even more.
As a note, you can upgrade your membership by paying an annual fee (which varies based on your location), and this allows you to gain access to enhanced benefits, including beefed-up earnings. This upgraded status is said to boost your referral program, turning your one-time reward into a monthly recurring one for every active member you bring onboard. It’s a simple way to amplify your income, though it’s essential to stay engaged with the app to ensure you recoup and benefit from your initial investment.
In a nutshell, Tapestri has a decent earning potential, especially if you’re active and often on the move. If that’s not you, your earnings might not be as great.
All in all, this app could earn you about $15 to $25 per month.
Getting Paid
Now, let’s talk rewards.
With Tapestri, every task or action you complete earns you coins. And, once you earn enough, you can then exchange them. You can withdraw via Stripe, however, the withdrawal threshold varies with your region. Sometimes, it’s as low as $1, while other times it could be $10. Withdrawing via Stripe incurs a fee of $2.25 + 1% of the amount. Make sure to factor that in.
If you’re not a fan of cash, you can consider gift cards instead.
As a last note in the rewards, you used to be able to trade your earnings for crypto using OpenNode, but that’s no longer an option. I don’t know if they will ever bring that option back again.
Joining
If you like what you’re reading, then you can download the app and get started almost immediately.
Tapestri is available in numerous countries, and to know if you can join, look for your country’s name during the registration process. If you see it, that means you can join. If you don’t, then you won’t be able to join.
The registration process is straightforward – sign up using an email on their website, download the app via the link they send, and complete the registration.
It is free to join and you must be at least 18+ to join.
The Pros:
- The app is free to download and use.
- Tapestri promises up to $25 a month for sharing your data.
- By investing $9.95 a month, users can increase their potential earnings through the app’s affiliate program.
- Users from countries like the USA, UK, and Australia can expect a higher return due to higher bids from advertisers.
- The app is legitimate and does pay.
The Cons:
- The offer of $25 per month might sound too good to be true, raising suspicions about what else might be collected.
- Users don’t get insights into which companies their data is being sold to.
- Unlike many other companies that offer free affiliate programs, Tapestri charges users for theirs.
- Frequent crashes and technical issues are reported by many users.
- The app seems to work better on iPhones than on Android devices.
- Difficulty in setting up payment accounts and getting paid.
- Some users report missing earnings or sudden decreases in their balances.
- Customer support is lacking and unresponsive to users’ issues and complaints.
Final Thoughts
6/10Tapestri is a legitimate app if you’re looking to earn a little extra on the side, especially if you don’t want to do all that much. Again, don’t expect much, but you can earn about $20~ per month on average, sometimes more if you refer the right people. If you travel around frequently, you will benefit the most, however, if you don’t, you may want to look elsewhere as I don’t think you will benefit as much.
As long as you don’t mind allowing the app to anonymously sell off your data, it’s one to consider. Worst case, if you don’t like what you’re seeing earnings wise, you can always delete it.
That’s going to do it for now.
