The IntelliZoom Panel, like the many app/website testing companies I have mentioned before, helps companies make better products and leverage design to help these brands better understand their customers.
As a panel member, it will be your job to essentially make a website and/or app better, offering your honest personal opinion. You will browse an app/website as you normally would and offer your opinion, usually while browsing on a webcam and talking your thoughts out loud with a microphone.
Since there are a lot of these companies, I wanted to dig in and see if the IntelliZoom Panel is something worth joining. Is it worth your time? Should you sign up? I have seen it mentioned a few times and figured it was time to join.
As with all of my reviews, I offer honest insight, I walk you through the sign-up process in detail, and in the end, I let you know my honest thoughts. To preserve my integrity, I would never recommend something I personally wouldn’t use.
If you want to make a few bucks in your free time and don’t mind speaking/writing your thoughts aloud, then the IntelliZoom Panel may be one to consider.
IntelliZoom Panel Review
What is the IntelliZoom Panel?
The IntelliZoom Panel is a global company, with offices in both the United States and Europe. As I write this, its team of researchers, designers and engineers are headquartered in San Jose, California.
The company is operated beneath the UserZoom umbrella, which is a UX insights company with multiple brands, including IntelliZoom, and was founded in 2007.
There’s no doubt the company is legitimate, but just because it’s a legitimate company, it doesn’t always make for a great opportunity. I always like to research the company’s background just to make sure I’m dealing with someone legitimate before wasting my time.
Signing Up
To sign up, the process isn’t all that hard and only takes a minute to complete.
Like the many companies that work similar to this, you will need to provide your name, your email as well as a password.
In the end, you will be asked to agree to the terms as well as agree to receive communications from IntelliZoom. Make sure that you click on the option to receive communication so that you don’t miss out on any future invites as all of these will come through to your e-mail. You can log into your dashboard to see any invites, but I found it easier to wait for the e-mail most of the time.
To qualify as a participant, you must be at least 18+ years old or 21+ years old if a U.S. citizen. You must also be able to speak either English, Spanish or German fluently as well as a be resident of US, UK, Spain, Germany or Australia. As you will need to use a webcam, you must be willing to have your face and voice recorded as well as be able to speak your thoughts out loud.
IntelliZoom Panel Dashboard
After you register and confirm your email address, IntelliZoom will then want to get to know you, much like these other survey sites. At this time, you will be asked a variety of personal questions, from your personal information to your health and fitness. The minute you log in, you should look for the “complete my profile” to start filling these profiles out. It will look something like this…
In clicking on that, you will then be directed to a page like this…
While you won’t get paid to do this and it’s optional, all of these companies do this so that they can match you with the right jobs. It’s going to save your time as you won’t get denied from jobs you don’t qualify for as well as the companies sending the jobs. It’s very important that you fill out these demographic profiles as it will help you get more jobs. I can’t stress this enough!
If you fail to fill these profiles out, then you probably won’t get as many invites as the average panel member. In fact, you may get no invites at all.
Complete the Practice Study
After you complete your profiles, you will then need to complete the practice study in order to gain access to future studies. The company does this so that they can assure you that you’re a good enough candidate for future requests.
To find this practice study, it will be right on your main dashboard page, looking something like this…
You will need a webcam and a microphone, so if you don’t have one already, I either recommend you purchase one or connect it if you already have one. While the investment may seem extreme at first, let it be known that there are a ton of job opportunities that you can take advantage of with your webcam.
They also ask that you have a strong connection, a quiet environment as well as a well-lit place. You can see an entire checklist before proceeding with the job.
The entire process takes up to 10 minutes to complete and is required if you want to receive studies in the future.
The test is very easy and all you need to do is read the prompt, followed by speaking your thoughts while completing the tasks. It’s a lot easier than you think, trust me!
Waiting Game
After you complete your profile and then pass the practice study, it’s now a waiting game.
Much like surveys, the number of study invites you get will greatly depend on your demographic. Your results will vary; however, according to my research, you could receive anywhere from one to as much as 10+ studies a week.
As a conservative estimate, I would plan on receiving about five invites a week on average.
Be sure to keep your eyes peeled via your email account as they will send out invites as they come in. This is on a first come, first serve basis, so make sure you attempt to take the survey immediately so that you can get the credit.
How Much Can I Make With IntelliZoom?
IntelliZoom has two types of studies: TOL and Non-TOL.
TOL, referred to as your “think out loud” tests require that you record your voice as well as your face as you complete a task. Basically, you will speak your thoughts as you’re completing a task. These tasks pay an average of about $8~ each and will take up to 20 minutes to complete.
Your Non-TOL, referred to as your NON “think out loud” test will work just like a survey. This can either be a “card sort study,” wherein you will be asked to categorize a list of things into certain topics or an SSCT (screenshot click test), wherein you will be given a static imagine and ask where you might click on it to find something. These studies pay about $2 on average, at least from my experience.
If you were to qualify for about five random studies, it’s safe to say you could earn at least $10 to $25+ per week, making for a total of $100+ a month.
Of course, I can’t stress it enough that your demographic could greatly vary from mine, so as in all of my reviews, I would take it with a grain of salt.
Getting Paid
The nice thing about IntelliZoom is that they don’t use a silly points system. You get paid cash.
After you study completes, the company will send payments via PayPal up to 21 business days automatically. They will send the cash to the email you signed up with, so make sure that this email is tied to a PayPal account. You can also add one to your primary PayPal account if you have to do so.
You don’t have to worry about cashing out or anything like that as money will always be sent to your account within the three weeks after you receive a success message after completing your study.
At this moment, PayPal is your only option.
The Pros and Cons
As in all of my reviews, I like to see what the internet is saying. It will kind of give you an idea as to what people like and dislike about the service.
In my hunt for more information, here’s what I found out:
The Pros
- studies pay quite a bit, sometimes as much as $10+
- great investment for your time, usually $10 per 20 minutes
- good reputation
- PayPal
- no payout minimums
The Cons
- can be inconsistent, but this will depend on your demographic
- payment can take up to 21 days
Final Thoughts
6/10If you don’t mind using a webcam and speaking your thoughts out loud, IntelliZoom could be a great way for you to earn about $5 to $20~ a week. I know it isn’t life-changing money, but honestly, a lot of these companies that I do mention on this website aren’t designed to pay you a full-time income; rather, it’s as a way to supplement your income. Anything you complete on the site pays well, so you’re never really wasting your time. That’s a plus!
Even if you don’t want to use your webcam, you can participate in the surveys, but the only problem is that these tend to be rare. If you want to complete surveys, I would focus moreso on Swagbucks, FusionCash, Quick Thoughts, to name a few. These companies will pay much more and you won’t have to speak out loud. Plus, they offer many more opportunities.
In the end, give IntelliZoom a try.
It only takes a few minutes to sign up and another 10 to take the qualification test. As our demographics vary, you could have much more luck than I do.
