SurveyMagic App Review: Worth Your Time?

SurveyMagic pays you to take surveys and is a relatively new player to the Google Play/iTunes store.

As I’m writing this, they only have 50,000~ downloads, but I’m sure the numbers are going to rise as time goes on.  It’s not as large as the bigger names, but I wouldn’t say it’s a newcomer, either.

Whether you heard about the app or maybe you want to find yet another survey app that makes you money, let’s see if the SurveyMagic app is worth your time.

Is it legit?  Is it a scam?

These are all the questions I’m going to answer in today’s review.

What is SurveyMagic?

SurveyMagic is one of the hundreds of survey apps on the market.  Sadly, there are a ton of survey apps, many of which work in the same way and/or work with the same providers.  This means that almost all survey apps are the same because they are feeding off the same third-party providers sending the same surveys.  These are known as third-party offerwalls.  This isn’t always the case, though, as you can find some opportunities that offer legitimate, unique surveys, such as Swagbucks, etc.

Simply put, SurveyMagic will post surveys on your dashboard, and then, at your discretion, you can choose whichever survey is of interest to you.  These surveys don’t pay a ton, but you can earn a few dollars here and there, depending on how often you log in.

Earning Money with Surveys

When you download the app, they will first ask you to sign up for an account.  This will include your email address and creating a password, that’s it.

Once you do that, you will be asked to complete both an intro and profile survey, both of which will pay you $1 and $0.50 respectively.

If you want to take surveys on this app, you will have to complete these two surveys.  This is very commonplace on most survey sites as these companies will want to learn more about you so that they can send you targeted surveys.  The more they know, the more surveys you can complete.  After all, you wouldn’t want a survey on dog food when you don’t have a dog, right?

After you complete these two profile surveys, you can then sit back and wait for survey invites, which will show up on your home screen dashboard.

Once you can view these surveys, it’s as easy as browsing the surveys that are of interest to you.

Here, you will see how long the survey takes, what other users are rating it as well as what it pays.  As with any survey site/app, always make sure that you’re using your time wisely.  You don’t want to complete a 30 minute survey for $0.50, for example.  I can’t tell you what your time is worth, but usually, I try to find a survey that’s about $0.10 to $0.20 per minute, no less.

How Much Can I Make?

Like most survey apps, don’t expect to make much.

Depending on your demographic, I think you can comfortably make $1 to $5 per day using this app alone.  Again, it’s not much, but if you’re just looking for a fast food lunch weekly, then it will suffice.  If you’re looking to quit your job, however, that won’t happen.

Surveys do update throughout the day but remember that you won’t qualify for all of them.  In fact, only plan on qualifying for about 20% of what you click on.

At the moment, it appears the app is open globally; however, some countries may see no surveys whereas other countries, such as the USA and UK, will see many more.

Rewards

When it comes time to cash out, you will need at least $5 to cash out.

And, when you do, you can choose from a variety of rewards, which includes PayPal, Visa, Amazon and other gift cards.

The threshold isn’t too bad and the rewards seem to be great, so there’s no problem here.  Payouts are usually sent within 48 hours.

NOTE:  What seems sleazy is that you need to leave a review before you get your payout.  I have never seen this before.

The Pros:

  • easy to use dashboard
  • only surveys
  • PayPal
  • a lot of surveys seem to be available

The Cons:

  • payout can be clumsy at times
  • you need to leave a review before cashing out
  • lots of disqualifying (this is common)
  • some report delays in payouts
  • poor customer service

Final Thoughts

6/10Overall, the app is very easy to use and they appear to work with a lot of reputable survey app providers. However, let it be known that this app works like the many out there, and I didn’t find too much unique about it.  I don’t think that’s a bad thing, however.

There are a few negatives, such as poor customer service, some delayed payouts, and a lot of disqualifications, but I wouldn’t see that as a deal breaker.

If you do plan on using it, don’t expect to make much, maybe a few dollars a day if that.  If you’re okay with that, then try it out. Worst case, you can always try another survey-like app.  That can be said about any survey app.

That’s going to do it for now.

As always, feel free to vent in the comments below if you have used the app.
