Userfeel.com is a website I have mentioned quite a few times, such as in my best paying weekend jobs and 61+ ways to make $1000 posts.  In short, it’s a company that will pay you to test a website, prototype and/or app.

Userfeel Review

If you want to make $10 per test and don’t mind sharing your thoughts aloud, then it may be one to consider.  It’s a unique way to make money online.

In this review, I will talk about what the company does, how you can apply as well as if it’s worth your time.  As in all of my reviews, I’m always 100% honest and would never recommend something I wouldn’t use.

What is Userfeel?

Userfeel started in 2010 by Yannis Karampelas.  At the time, he wanted to help optimize his clients’ websites but he couldn’t find a way to do so efficiently.  Enter Userfeel today.

Today, the company works with hundreds of well-known companies, many of which you have heard of, such as the Office Depot and Tripadvisor.  Their testing tools help companies see what the everyday user thinks about their product before it’s launched live.  It’s one of the many usability tests out there that help companies improve their products.

As a user, it will be your job to videotape yourself while browsing a website/app and speaking your thoughts as you move around according to the job guidelines.  Your feedback, like surveys, can help companies transform their product into something meaningful as well as profitable for their organization.

Userfeel tests in any language and currently has more than 90,000 qualified testers in their database, speaking more than 40 languages.

What Do You Do?  How Do I Use Userfeel?

As a usability tester, it will be your job to test a website/app or whatever it may be.  Before the job even starts, you will know what’s expected of you in terms of the scenario presented as well as which tasks you will be performing.  You will also be asked to answer a few screener questions to determine if you’re a good fit for the test.  If you have taken a survey in the past, it works no differently.  Based on these screener questions, you can then proceed to take the test as long as you’re approved.

As you perform the tasks, you will need to speak out loud as you do it so that the company knows exactly what you’re thinking as you’re performing the said task.  So, for example, if you were asked to find a phone number, you would speak out lout and answer the question specified.  If they asked how easy it was to find it, you would offer your thoughts, such as how it easy/hard it was.

If you’re interested in becoming a usability tester, the process is relatively simple.  To get started, you will first want to head to the official website and click on the “become a tester” link.

In clicking on this, you can then watch a video to see how it work as well as skim through a variety of frequently asked questions, many of which I touch upon here.

In the end, as long as you know what’s expected of you as well as what you need to do to get paid, you can register and proceed to take the qualification test.

Registration is open to applicants worldwide, as long as you’re older than 18.  When applying, just make sure you note your country of residence as well as which languages you can speak fluently.

NOTE:  If accepted and approved, you will need a microphone, either an internal or external, to complete the tasks.  This is mandatory.  A cheaper $5 is more than fine as long as they can hear your voice.

Taking the Qualification Test

Unlike survey/research companies that accept you right away, you will be asked to take a qualification test to be certain you will qualify as a good tester.  Unfortunately, not everyone is approved, so don’t be too discouraged if you find yourself disqualified.

Typically, it will take about a week or two to get your results back and the test will verify that you have a microphone and that you can speak your thoughts while taking a test.

Based on this test, the company can rate you to determine if you’re a fit as well as how often you can receive tests in the future.  You will not get compensated for this qualification test.

How Much Do You Make With Userfeel?

Payments are easier to remember as you get paid $10 for every test you take, that’s it.

Most tests take about 10 to 20 minutes to complete, and usually, the company pays about one week after your test completes, either via PayPal or an Amazon gift card, whichever option you choose.

When you do sign up, you can choose your preferred payment in your profile.  Payments are sent automatically after your test completes and it has been approved.

How Much Can You Make?

This is a hard question to answer as it varies, just like surveys.  How much you make will depend on your rating as well as your demographics.  The higher your rating is, the more you can make as more tests will be assigned to you.

One Reddit member, for example, said he made $30 in a week.

While there’s no guarantee, I have read you can get as many as five+ invites a day to a select few a month.  Your results will vary!

How Can I Improve My Rating?

Since your rating greatly affects your earnings, there are a few things you can do to increase your ratings, according to the company’s official FAQ.

Always make sure you perform the tasks according to the test scenario.  Just like in school, it’s imperative that you follow directions.

When speaking, speak directly into the microphone, loud and clear.  Don’t mumble from a distance!

Always make sure you’re speaking in a quiet place. The client shouldn’t hear a dog barking or a child crying in the distance.

When talking out loud, explain your thoughts and don’t be a narrator, reading what you see on the screen.  You need to be creative and speak what you think.

Lastly, provide useful comments.  Help suggest ideas and/or let them know what confuses/helped you.  The more they know, the more they can justify paying you. Plus, good feedback can lead to more jobs.

NOTE: For some, it can take practice, so don’t expect great feedback right away.  Be sure to reference the few videos on the website to improve your ratings.

What the Internet Is Saying

As in all of my reviews, I love to see what the internet is saying about the companies I’m writing about.  It’s always nice to get an outside perspective, aside from my own opinions.  Noted below, I gathered all of the pros and cons I could find and posted them in a simple-to-read format.  As with any money-making venture online, you will always find both good and bad, so take everything you read with a grain of salt.

The Pros

The Cons

• lack of tests for some
• app appears to eat up a lot of memory
• lots of bugs, according to Google Play reviews

Is it Safe?  Is it a Scam?

In closing, Userfeel is 100% safe and is not a scam, I can promise you that much.  It’s backed by a very reputable organization, albeit not as large as its competitors.

If you do decide to sign up, you can be assured that you will get paid if you complete a test, there’s no worry there.

Final Thoughts

9/10Userfeel is one to be put high on your list.  It’s a nice $10 per 10 to 20 minutes of your time and you simply have to talk, that’s about it.  As long as you can put your thoughts into words, it can be a lot better than taking surveys for less than $1.  To me, it’s a nice change of pace.

While it’s not the best company to test websites with, it’s one to at least add your name to.

If you do sign up and you’re lucky enough to get approved, you may find yourself making $50, $100, or in some cases, more than $150+ a month.  That’s not too bad for an online gig, where you can work whenever you want.

For now, give it a shot.  Just make sure you watch the videos online to succeed on your qualification test.  Remember that it’s very important that you score well so that your rating is higher to receive more gigs.
