WowApp Review: Earn Money While Helping Charities

The WowApp seems to be much different than the many apps I have mentioned in the past that mainly focus on surveys, at least when you read the company’s description.

According to the company’s official website, you get rewarded  and “do good” with a variety of activities such as shopping online, playing WowGames and taking part in the “instant earn” activities.

At first, the app can be confusing to use, but as you use it, I didn’t find it to be too bad.  While it seems to be a good message, I don’t think it’s anything special.

In today’s review, I wanted to test the app and let you know what I thought.  Is it legit?  Is it a scam?  Should you even consider downloading it?

As in all of my reviews, I’m always 100% honest, only recommending what I feel is worth your time.

What is WowApp?

The unique thing about WowApp is that they want to increase income inequality in the world.  The founder, Thomas Knobel, wanted to create an app with an economy where people could earn online for the tasks they are already completing, such as making calls, playing games, etc.  Every time you earn, you will get a daily Universal Basic Income, in which you can cash out for a variety of rewards.

The app has been around since 2015, and since then, they have grown into an app that has more than 5+ million downloads.  While the app reviews seem to be mediocre, most of the complaints seem to revolve around the slow earning opportunities.  I will get into that later.

In theory, WowApp has a nice premise, but is it worth your time?  Even though you may like the idea behind it, we still need to make sure it’s worth our time.

As I write this, the company has six unique ways to earn, all of which I will cover below.

Earning #1:  UBI

When you use the WowApp every day, you will receive digital money in form of WowCoin.  If you don’t claim it, it will go back into the post, where the community can then share the “treasure.”

To earn these free coins, you just have to log in and claim your daily reward.

Earning #2:  Instant Earn

The instant earn section works just like the many apps I have mentioned before.

Here, you can complete surveys, tasks and even watch videos to earn WowCoins.  Everything you need to know is presented to you before you accept the task.  Just make sure you accept a task that makes sense to you since there are a lot of low-paying offers.

Unfortunately, all of these offers come through third-party offerwalls and you won’t find much in terms of uniqueness, so don’t expect anything different here.  Most of these tasks pay $0.10 to $1+, depending on the option you choose.  If you have been part of almost any survey/offer-like website, there’s a good chance you have seen these options before.

After you complete a task, you will see your account credited within 10 minutes.

Earning #3:  Play Games

The WowApp has more than 800+ games to play, and to start earning, you usually have to play until the “end” of the game or you reach a certain threshold.

For example, I tried out a game and it said I needed to reach level 1 to earn WowCoins.  Everything you need to know will be stated on the home screen when you click on the game link.

If you’re interested in the games, you can sort by genre or you can browse the most popular games.  Don’t expect much here.

NOTE:  The following options are “earning” opportunities, however, you will have to make a purchase to get a certain percentage back.

Earning #4:  Shop (investment required)

If you plan on shopping, you can earn cash back for every purchase you make, as long as the retailer is on the app’s list.

It’s as simple as finding the retailer you want to use, clicking a specific URL, and then shopping as you would to earn a certain percentage back.

While the premise sounds awesome, there are much better cashback shopping options than here.  If you do plan on shopping online, I always recommend that you check out CashBackMonitor.com to see which company is offering the best cashback rate.

Unfortunately, WowApp won’t offer aggressive rates that other sites are able to do.

Earning #5: Make Phone Calls (investment required)

This is unique in that WowApp will help you earn cashback whenever you make international calls.

The app allows you to make phone calls internationally at the lowest rates, but whenever you make a paid call, the company will give you cash back.

Credits start at $2 and you can earn a certain amount back after each purchase.

Earning #6:  Store Credit (investment required)

Lastly, you can make purchases from stores and get discounted gift cards.

Like the cash back option, you can purchase a gift card from a store and then earn a certain percentage back.

Rewards

When it comes time to cash out, you can do so in a variety of ways, including:

  • donate to charity
  • store credit/gift cards
  • WowCredit for phone calls
  • PayPal
  • direct deposit

Every WowCoin is worth one cent and you need at least 240 WowCoins, about $2.40 in value to cash out via PayPal.  However, if you want to directly transfer money to your bank account, the minimum starts at 1,142 WowCoins, about $11.42 in value.

No matter which reward you choose, it will take about two to five business days for your reward to show.

The nice thing is that every time you earn, a certain percentage goes to the charities you choose to donate to.  When you sign up, you can choose your favorite charity to start sending money to.

How Much Can You Make?

Most of your money is going to be made in the Instant Earn section, and it won’t be much, unfortunately.

Depending on how often you log in and when you work, I wouldn’t expect to make more than a few dollars a day.  Of course, you won’t get rich, but I feel this app is mediocre.

If you want to earn money with these types of apps, I wouldn’t put WowApp high on the list.

The Pros:

  • 100% free to join
  • open worldwide
  • helps charities

The Cons:

  • not many ways to earn
  • PayPal fees are higher than average

Signing Up

If you like what you have read, then you can sign up for an account either on the Google Play or iTunes Store.  You can also sign up on the website if you want to use the desktop version.

To create an account, you will need to provide your email address and then provide some basic information.  Once you confirm your email address and phone number, you can start using the app.

The app is available worldwide and is available in many languages; however, I can’t stress this enough; even though you can join, it doesn’t mean you will make much.  Your results will vary.

Final Thoughts

7/10In the end, I love the message behind the app and I truly believe the founder wants to do better for the world.  However, if you’re looking to make money, this app will fall toward the bottom.  As I mentioned, the only true way to earn is via the Instant Earn section, which is just your basic third-party offerwalls.  There’s nothing special here.

While the other options seem great in theory, many require you to invest your money, such as shopping, making phone calls, or buying gift cards, for example.  There’s just nothing special here, and I think it lives up to its 3-star average rating.

The company is 100% legitimate, but I won’t be signing up.  If you do, you will get paid, but don’t expect to see your earnings climb aggressively.

That’s going to do it for now.
